Hello folks. I have a Tubi installed on a 99' for some time now. After i installed it, it was slightly off centered and favored the drive side. This weekend, I installed taitec headers. Now its really off centered and is just about touching my rear spat, I just got these repainted as the previous position bubbles the paint. I have read some previous posts on this and have tried some if the fixes mentioned. No luck. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get more centered? Thanks in advance

Here is a few fixs that you might allready know about
You can bend the hangers on the car.
Bend the hangers on the Tubi. [ Not easy]
Get longer rubber hangers.
It would help if you can post a pic so we can see how bad it is.

donwon,

I agree with the suggestions so far, but the hangers will primarily help if the height is wrong or the tips are touching the valance on the top side, or it may be crooked.

When you install the headers there is some slop in the mounting holes (i.e. the holes in the header flange are larger then the studs they are mounted on.) Sounds like yours are now mounted favoring the drivers side.

The only thing I can see is the remove the front beam, A/C compressor, and rear brackets and loosen all the header mounting bolts and WITH the Tubi in place, try to shift the headers to the passenger side, then retighten.

This is a bunch of work (aka. PITA), so hopefully you may get some different advice, but it is all I can think of that may solve it, especially since it was better before the headers were installed.

has anyone ever had good fitment with the tubi? It seems like everyone has problems gettin that thing aligned.
I was thinkin about gettin one, but reconsidering since fitment seems to be a major issue...

Mine fits nice and straight, running Comptech headers, Tubi exhaust, and with and without the factory catalytic converters (also have Taitec bypass pipes).

It's around an inch below the valence, and centered left to right. However, it is also putting out some thick black deposits on the valence, and has bubbled the black paint on the lower right valence piece.

I would like to get rid of the black and the bubbling, but in the end I don't really care - I wanted a different exhaust note, and, with the Tubi (and the other parts), I got it. :)

Don,

If a muffler shop is not able to heat the pipes enough to bend them to the correct position, you may have to consider cutting and welding.

Before you go the cut and weld route, I would stop to consider how much you love the sound. If you are confidant that this is the sound you want out of the NSX, go ahead with the work. If not, sell it and buy something else.

Good Fit

I put competch headers and a Tubi exhaust on my 95 NSX this spring and it fit perfectly. I had read many posts about how the exhaust did not fit right, but mine fit perfectly using the original rubber hangers. No bending anywhere.

I purchased my Tubi and headers new. So unless my car is abnormal the setup can fit properly. I did get some help locating a good NSX mechanic.

I love my Tubi!! I believe it can fit properly with loving care. :)
I am using my original cats.

Looking at that pic bending the hangers is not going to do much.
I would try to losen all the bolts so you can move it over a bit.
But I dont think that will help, its to far over. Can you return the headers?
I would try to keep the Tubi and get the Comtech headers.
Good luck. Let us know the out come.

I know what you mean about the paint bubbling, Mine is starting on the pasenger side

Any other exhausts have this problem?

Has anyone else with Taitec headers experienced exhaust fitment issues with Tubi or any other brand of exhaust?

ok. got them cut and welded. They are prefect now, but what a headache. Both Tubi and Taitec headers were the culprit. I just happened to choose the perfect combination of parts to make the set up as far over to the drivers side as possible. PITA but story of my life. Ill post pics soon. Thanks for everyones input.
