Is there any way to cool your trunk? I have a amp/cd changer/nav
in there and they are running way to hot. My car has a Tubi with no heat shield on it, that makes the trunk that much hotter.
Does anyone know if you can vent it from the outside?
How about running a ac vent to it? Any help would be great.
Thanks Brian.

Maybe you can some kinda heat absorbing material under the trunk? Kinda like heat shield, but something you can just stick on underneath? Just an idea...
Also, most people that have too much heat due to their amps etc. use a fan? Maybe that would help...
Good Luck

BSR Racing used to sell NASA heat sheilds that were designed to deflect heat from the headers of race cars. They sell them in sheet form and should deflect allot of the radient heat of the exhaust. i have not tried it but it may help.

I know this is crazy, but how about installing the heat shield? It seems you are looking for shielding from heat .......

I don't think the OEM heat-shield will fit the Tubi exhaust.
But the idea of fitting some heat-reflector on the underside of the trunck sounds like a good idea.
Maybe even painting the underside of the trunk bright silver or white might help as well. Caliper-paint would certainly be up to the temperatures reached there.

I dont think I am looking for a heat shield.
More like venting the hot air out and force new air in.
The amp is a big heat sorce that I need to cool off.
I might add some fans but they would just blow hot air around.

There is a heat reflector mounted there allready. Thanks.

Maybe a watercooled amp is your best possible solution? I've seen one watercooled amp in an NSX here in San Diego. (That car has since been totaled.)

Precision Power used to have an entire line of amps that could be water/coolant cooled. It was kind of a neet amp.

Anyway, I say leave it alone. Nearly all amps now days (Especially the Alpine F450) have thermal and load protection. If the thermal protection is not tripping than the amp is NOT getting hot enough just yet. The thermal protection is set well before any damage an occur, thus you should be safe even if you think it is too hot. Unless you have already tripped the thermal protection (That amp would shut down), I don't think you need to cool the amp yet.

The amp trips alot. I triped it five times today and I dont even have the other set of speakers hooked up yet.

How about the opening on the passenger's side? If you remove the passenger side trim piece, you'll see the rubber flap that covers this opening (used to vent air out when you shut the trunk). AFAIK, there is no opening on the driver's side, but the opening looks big enough to be able to handle drawing air both in and out (as long as you can come up with the necessary pumbling). Good luck.

Maybe the amp was undamaged and you can buy it. :D

Were is this located is it inside the trunk were the changer is mounted?

Maybe the amp was the reason the car got totaled.

Yup. It's near the OEM CD-changer location, but closer to the front of the car. Here's a picture:

Your the man Ojas! Thats what I was looking for.
I think if I install a fan in the front of that it will help get rid of some heat.

That was a very helpful pic.
Thanks Brian

I tore my trunk apart and found this covering the vent hole.
