Transmission Question?

Ok guys,

Unfortunately my NSX is an Automatic.

My questions...
Can I manually shift through the 4 Gears similar to a 5spd?
(#1) Will it hurt the Auto-Trans or Clutch to drive it off the line(stoplight) in 1st gear & shift up to Drive.

Also, I normally put the car in neutral at all traffic stops, to ease pressure on the trans/clutch & engine.
(#2) Does that cause abnormal wear to Clutch or Trans, to be doing at every extended stop light?

(#3) Is 1st gear in an Automatic, the same gear ratio as that found in your Manual?

Let me know what you think...thanks

no reason to do this.

I got an Incredible deal on this AutoTrans NSX so I took it!!!
Regardless, it's rather boring compared to the fun a Manual exudes.

I plan to get a manual...as soon as I find the exact color combo & miles.

a good deal on a car you don't really want is a terrible deal!
Wisdom takes an incredible deal and turns it into a better deal, a fool turns it down. After the sale of this Automatic NSX i could buy a newer Manual NSX Or pay off what i owe on my home.

there are only a handful of auto transmissions with actual "clutches"
Indeed that is partialy correct. Then again there is an internal engagement clutch that works in conjunction with the pressure plate that acts in a similar fashion. It doesn’t just slam into gear...it eases into the gears. That's what any clutch is for, regardless if its a pedal actuated devise.

MOST Automatic Transmissions have clutches. They are "wet" clutches. They just do not have the pedal:).
