I was watching the Best Motoring the Special VTEC issue, and the topic of how often the oil should be changed came up.

The expert from PHASE (if I remember correctly) says that it is not crucial to change the oil for each track event. Nevertheless, what is important is to change the transmission fluid whenever the engine oil is changed. He gave a reason that there is a tremendous amount of stress on the transmission at the track.

Does anyone practice this? Do you change your transmission oil everytime you change your engine oil?

I think it's a good idea. It certainly couldn't hurt. I've heard of certain professional race teams installing a breather element on the diff too (3rd party talk) but haven't seen it myself.

Changing the oil for every track event sounds excessive but depends on how much you drive between each event and if your car is stock. IMO 3000mi oil changes are excessive for a non tracked car but you will get lots of different opinions on that.

If you track your car and it has forced Induction I would think changing the engine oil and the transaxle oil more often would be a good idea. So for a stock engine car change the engine Oil after 2000 - 1500 mi and on an FI car b4 event. As for the Transaxle once a year should be fine with a stock engine and twice a year for FI.
