I'm ready to change the fluid and have a few questions: Looks like it will take 2.9 qts. for a fluid change for the trans/diff; what do you guys recommend? I have had good results with the ACDelco Synchromesh Trans fluid friction modified Semi- sythetic. A lot of the S-2000 track guys like it. I'v also used the Redline Synth. products in Hewland box's, usually using the shockproof superlight. I'd appreciate hearing from Prime members. Thanks, Tomrev

I've tried Redline MTL, synthetic motor oil, and Honda MTF. I noticed absolutely no difference in performance among the three. I now stick with the Honda MTF.

Depending on the age of your car and how smooth your shifting is, I would suggest synchromesh for older cars with some synchros that might be wearing out, or notchy gears. This made a huge difference on my 94.

If you have a newer car and it shifts pretty sweet, go with the Honda stuff.

I was doing a search for GM Syncromesh. One of the listings that came up was AMSOIL Syncromesh. Has anyone out there tried this stuff? It is listed as a 5W-30 weight.

I am going to drain out my Quaker State Q full synthetic 5w-30 that I am currently running. I am planning on pulling my transmission out next spring to replace 4th and 5th gear syncros (and anything else that I find when I get it opened up). I may try one of these snake oils just to see if there is any difference before the operation. I will still pull the trans to replace the rear main seal that is leaking. I need some good old auto mechanic therapy. Taking the trans apart looks like great fun.

It's a brand new product and I plan on trying it out next tmie I flush and fill. I have a '93 with almost 170,000 miles and have been using the cocktail of 2 parts SMFM to 1 part SM. I only use Amsoil ATM 10W-30 in my motor so I'm iterested to see how their MT fluid will perform. Amsoil lubricants are the best of the best, you can't go wrong with them.

Please keep us posted on the trials. This will be good since you have been using the Syncromesh fluid. You will be able to give us good feedback on the AMSOIL product. We will be waiting.

I have to look at my logs to see when it was last re-filled. If memoery serves correctly I still have a few thousand miles to go which probably means in a month or two. :)
