UPDATE!
Good news: my pressure plate is intact.. no broken arm, just light scratches from fork of throw out bearing (which is why it sounded like "dragging a metal pipe under my car"
Bad news: the problem is either (1) bended fork of throw out bearing (2) throw out bearing itself .. They suspect when the slave cylinder blew up, the fork probably get caught up in the pressure plate arms to cause scratches, and to bend the “fork”. Their theory is that since the “grinding” noise is on and off.. and once clutch is depressed, the problem will go away; hence, the clutch assembly itself is ok, but the fork might be bended and/or the throw out bearing might be out of alignment, to cause the “grinding”.. and when the clutch is depressed, it might temparory align the throwout bearing.. and it will be normal again
If broken throwout bearing, or fork, or broken pressure plate arm, then the noise should be ON all the time..
Real bad news..: the damn shop told me that they willll have to drop the tranny to get to the throw out bearings .. and throwout bearing fork, and CHARGE ME 550+ buck.. can you believe it???
What do you guys think?
How much is the comptech GP "throw out bearings" and how much is the OEM fork?
