Last Sunday I visited a trackday organised by the Dutch Gummen.org club (www.gummen.org). This is a club of car enthousiast which encompasses a very broad range of people who share a general love of cars of all kinds, all brand and all years.
Once or twice a year they organise a event on a small track near the Dutch city of Lelystad ( http://www.midland-circuit-lelystad.nl/ )
Not a racetrack in the usual sense, it was designed more for stockcar and autospeedway racing. However, the advantage of a small track is that speeds are generally lower and that it is an good place for learning slalomming without undue risks. Also, costs is low, so everybody can join in.

A wide variety of cars were present among which an Opel Speedster, several BMW's M3 (E30 and E36), several Alfa Romeo's (GTA en 75), two Toyota MR2's (first and second model), but also standard cars like a Alfa Romeo Spider, Mini Cooper, BMW 120 Diesel, Citroen AX, Toyota Corolla.
I was by far not the fastest car around the track the organisation had set out but nevertheless, I had great fun.

Obviously, even with the Tein-RA suspension, I will need some good swaybar because even now the car rolls more than I thought.

Also, I took the opportunity to try out my new camcorder with a wideangle lens and a suction-cup camera mount.
The uploaded movies will give you an idea of what this day was all about.

First turn in the morning. I had somebody with me to point the way because I did not want to get lost

After the break it was very busy on the track so sometimes you had to slow down:

But after the road cleared I could just relax and tour around in a more leisurly fashion:

Very nice day you had!! I don't think i ever do this with my own NSX-T the chance off getting the car damaged is too big

nice to see that people love this way off "gummen"

greating ronny

Hi Ronny,

I think that the chance of damage is very slight on this track. I was driving very careful with my car. And the highest speed on this track was maybe around 110 kph (around 68mph) and your average is much much lower because the turns are so tight. I shifted only once after the first chicanes and then did the rest of the track in 2nd. Didn't try to win anything but just wanted to get a better feel for the car. The NSX is a big car on a track like this but I was very pleased with the way it handled itself around the tight turns. Never had any problems with (excessive) oversteer. Some guys in BMW's were really drifting as much as they could and sometimes got off the track but even then they would be right beside it because the speeds are low.
Maybe next time you come and see for yourself what it is like. RSEvo6 was there with his Turbo MR2 and he was really drifting very nicely through the corners.
