Curious what those that drive their car on the street and track are using for seats.

Drive my car everyday on the street, track it as much as I can when I can.

The OEM seats are nice, but lack shoulder harness holes and could use some more lateral leg support.... for me anyway.

I've tried the McBride Strata and the F1 Spec seats in my car already. Too narrow in the shoulder area and pushes my shoulders foward. Very uncomfortable position. Both seats fit great in the car width and height wise, just don't don't fit me. Short and broad shoulders.

I'm looking for a seat that has back and forth back adjustment. Something that will be comfortable for street and still give the track support needed. Just don't want a full racing seat for everyday driving...
Also considering just having the OEM seats re-made and add a little higher leg bolster support and harness rings put in. Problem is with OEM seats, their heavy....

Any idea's ?

Type-S or Type-R seats if you can find a set at a good price.

Can't really beat OEM for their great support and comfort as well as the fact that they have powered rails for adjustability, best seats for the NSX :)

Only seats that I would consider if I were to buy another NSX

That's a fact, the NSX OEM seats are the most comfortable some-what supportive proformance seats I sat in for being OEM.
Thanks for the thought.

If you do decide to modify the stock seats, I imagine you will need to replace the seat covers. If so, you should consider using Alcantara on the seating surface (similar to the Zanardi Edition). It really helps keep you from sliding around.

Absolutely. Thanks.

do you know what 2slow2speed talking about? he didn't mean by the nsx oem seat but the JDM nsx R or Type S "real" bucket seats. They are racing seats but with thicker padding for comfort and powered seat railed for ease of adjustment.

If you not considering those seats, then you could also get a set of Recaro SPG or pole position, they are next best thing to the nsxR and type S. Now sparco seats are generally more padded but you might run into fitment issue.

Stock seats in my '91.
You the man!

But really... Coz, I love the stock seats. Very comfortable for daily driving and I have no problem with them on the track either. If you plan on tracking your car a lot more then maybe upgrade to a 1-pc bucket seat. 75% of them are crap and I can't fit in them either b/c i'm so tall and the cockpit of the NSX is so small. But Recaro Pole Positions, Sparco Evos, and a select few others are good options.

Hey Billy,
I do like the stock seats. I put them back in today. Ran the shoulder harnesses through the head rest area to my Comptech harness bar.
Now that I'm more secure in the seat, they feel a lot better. Wish I had about 3" more of leg bolster though. But they are better than the Strata's and F1's I recently tried. I'm just to short in the torsel area and I sit to low in the 2 others I tried. I think I'll just stay with the OEM seats, hard to beat for comfort and general support. Wish I would have gotten pull up lap belts instead of pull down this tiime around. Not much room for pulling down to tighten the lap belts up. But all is well.

They'll get a long test this Sat since I have Firebird West all to myself for 8 hours. It's going to be a long, but great practice day. Wish you we're closer, we'd share the track.

I have Pole Positions and like them a lot, and they are more comfortable than I thought they'd be.

Have you considered Sparco Milanos? They are in between a race seat and stock seat, and are very adjustable.

How about just doing the old seat cushion mod? I removed nearly an inch of padding under the bottom cushion and it helped out a ton. By sitting lower the seats now naturally hugged my hips tighter and made driving on the track a lot better. And you can't argue with the price- free.

That's a great idea. I saw the article on how to modify them to accept the sub belt. Would be nothing to have the bottom cushion lowed as you said at the same time.
Thanks guys for the impute.
Appreciate it.

+1, try it. It makes a huge difference. Non-issue for me with a big torso, so try it and see if you sit too low for comfort with the seat cushion mod. If you're not too low, I think you'll be happy.
