Track Schedule

Dave & Daria are assembling one for our club. Stay tuned!

Sean

I'd recommend that all who are interested in tracking their cars start with the Hanson Day at the Mosport Driver Development Track.

The days are either Friday April 6th, or Friday August 3rd.

Do this BEFORE you go to a "big track" with unknown instruction.

Tracking your car is NOT WITHOUT RISKS and the Hanson Days at the Driver Development Track (Which is not the "GP Course" at Mosport) is thousands of times safer, and comes with the best of the best of instructors.

I've gone every year and I find it a good "warm up" for the season (Last season I was on Big tracks for 26 days, and I still feel I need a warm up before I get started in the new season to remind myself of all the bad habbits formed by street driving)

PLEASE! Call Peter and book, this is a safe, low wear and tear way of getting some experience - if you want to learn of a big track and you think your already a great street driver you may be shopping for a new car sooner than you think! (I'm sure Dave, Daria and Rui could all all tell you stories)

BTW, Me, Dave and Daria will be there for sure, Rick and Sean say they're coming - It will be an NSX get together! But Book NOW it does fill up!!!

I will echo everything Stu said up above.

The hanson day is an excellent way to start the season for an advanced driver, or an excellent way to increase your comfort of driving your car closer to your limit than you're otherwise able if you're a novice.

It is NOT a fast track. Any tracking does have risks, but if you're looking for a place to start, this is the best Ive ever seen. You'll feel that you're going crazy fast, but you will be at 110 kph, heading into a blind right hander with a left hair pin a couple seconds later. You will be heading down a little hill and have a quick left and then a very fast right. Mistakes happen on all tracks, but if you make one here, it is much less likely that you will damage your car.

Its the best school for an introduction.

Ill be there. Im hoping that Stu leaves the pink car at home.

And I will just say that if you are in and around Toronto and are tempted by the GP track. I would highly recommend you not do it until you have a few days like the Hanson days, or days at Shannonville, under your belt.

The big track is fun an all, but it is not more fun than the development track. It can however destroy your car very quickly.

Im going to put up a formal thread about the Hanson Day.

I like to say that "1 big mistake" on the GP track wins you a new car.

On the other hand, any mistake on the DDP @ Mosport is just something to fun to learn from.

Too many guys rate themselves as "expert drivers" because they know how great they are on the road - the track is TOTALY DIFFERENT!!

When you feel you're a little too fast on the street you just lift off the gas a bit - do it on the track and you'll end up a passanger in your spinning car - better to learn that where there are no walls to stop your spin!

Remember full priviledges in the NSX Club are only available to OWNERS - the fastest way to become an ex-owner is to push your car on a big track without previous experience!

^^That comes from a guy whos not man enough to drive his real car on the track.

Daria - I got your schedule. You had almost all of the days I had. I'll put what Ive got up.

I'm not looking to set any records.
I went to Cayuga last year, had a blast, and there was an instructor their.

I will register for the Hanson thing when I get a chance....

What are all the tracks in ontario? Theirs Cayuga, and Shannonville, any others?

No - Shannonville is Bellvilleish and Mosport is just north of Drummondville. Calabogie is about an hour west west south of Ottawa.

Could he be more confusing? Obviously he doesn't want you to go (probably 'cuz he's intimidated buy your turbo car!)

Mosport, go North 15 mins from Western Bowmanville Exit (there are two exits for Bowmanville) then go east 3 mins - less than 1 hr from Toronto

Mosport has two tracks: GP Track (AKA "Big Track") that will eat your car if you if you mess up and the Driver Development Track (DDT) that you can spin on and laugh!

Shannonville: East 401 past Belleville, just south of 401 - 2 hrs from Toronto

Shannonville has two tracks that are combined to make three, the tracks are relatively flat and going off isn't too bad, the North track is safer for not rolling your car if you go off, on the full track you can achieve speeds that will roll you if you get off while being too agressive for your own good.

Calabogie: Pack lunch, drive east towards Ottawa, turn-off 401 early and head north towards Ottawa, on the way, stop at Calabogie - 4.5 hours from Toronto

Brand new track - few instructors have any experience on this track (very few track days last year) Its supposed to be a great, FAST track but has limited run-off in various places - learn to drive on a well known track first - you don't want to be the guy the instructors tell everyone about when they're describing a corner, "Last week/month this guy over-cooked turn #x and who'd have believed it, but he got his car up in the air and it rolled six times before it his a tree in the forest! You need to take turn #x carefully or it will bite you!"
