Driving to the track and cruising (but no cruise control) 75-80 mph for 100 miles I averaged 26 mpg with my 3.2L 98-T stock engine.

At the track, a 3.0 miles circuit, mostly 3rd gear to 7500 RPM ( my oil pressure gauge went to zero at this point but I will check my sender when I change the oil next time) and occasional fourth gear for a burst, I averaged about 8.3 mpg.

FWIW, here are qualifiers: the ambient temp was about 95F ( and I was glad to have Mobil 1 as that has a higher boiling pont but only the nsgods know what the oil temp was ....

...... so every 4th or 5th lap we (2 of the 3 NSXs at the track) were taking a cool down lap to bring the temp down to normal (the reading of water temp was 2/3 to the red line after 4 or 5 hot laps; and I do have the Dali radiator shield -with the original design small holes). Stock rotors, RM pads with Dali deflectors but dust shield still on (which helped given all the debris on the track) ..... and yes Motul ...... no fade

What has been your mpg experience at the track?

I average 4.5-5 mpg for track events on a 3.0L.

I am sure the nature of the track configuration will make a difference; are you mostly on 2nd and 3rd gear upper ranges of the RPM ..........?

My post was for Thunderhill where you can drive most of the course on 3 rd and 4th if you allow a few dips in the rev (and a few seconds as well) for 3 of the 15 turns with a stock 6 speed. The 8-9 mileage is consistent with others on the same track (some with 5 speed maybe down to 7 because they use 2nd more often). We all seem to run low on gas after about 100-120 miles.

I take it your a detail guy,so the specifics of my low mpg:3.0L,comptech powertec kit(cams, mild port polish)I,H,E Short gears and 4.55 rp. plus I like to keep it at peak hp in most gears. Our local tracks are Pocono, lime rock, watkins glen, summit point.

Spring Mountian
Normally Aspriated - 6-8 mpg turning 1:55 - 1:58

I got about 4-6mpg at the track on a 3.0L with intake and Exhaust and a Dali Clutch and flywheel.

This was done at Portland International and Seattle raceway, which are both relatively high speed tracks with long straights...(SIR is a 2.5mi track that has a 3/4mi long front straight that you ENTER at 80+mph..)
