This is a tremendous OPPORTUNITY for all NSX track junkies. Let me explain.
You may (or may not) have heard that NSXPO 2007 will feature a track event at Mid-Ohio October 8-9, as announced in this previous topic. Here's what you probably DON'T already know about this event:
1. Mid-Ohio is pure heaven for every track nut. I've driven 26 different tracks, including almost all the most famous ones in the States, and Mid-Ohio is still my absolute number one favorite track. Why do I love it so? It has the perfect amount of "flow" and "rhythm", where if you do it right, one turn throws you into the next, and into the next, and into the next, pretty much all the way around the track. I could drive it all day long (and, on some occasions, I've done just that). It's a wonderful, wonderful track.
2. The number of cars at this event will be low. As of right now, 29 students have signed up for the track event. (Many others have signed up to come to the social activities at NSXPO 2007, but not for the track event.) That's not very many at all. What this means for the event is that it might lose money, but that's not your problem; the registration fee is already set. What this means for YOU is that (a) there aren't going to be a lot of cars crowded onto the track at a time - the track will probably seem fairly empty; and/or (b) there will be fewer run groups, which means more track time for everyone. Probably both. This is not a typical BMW CCA drivers school, where they have 100 students, with 25 students in each of four run groups plus an instructor run group. You'll still get an instructor at NSXPO 2007, and most of our instructors also instruct with those other groups, too. You'll still be placed with others of your experience level (novices with other novices, experienced folks with other experienced folks). You'll just get lots more track time, with less traffic on the track.
3. The price is reasonable. Lots of groups charge $500, 600, and more to drive Mid-Ohio for two days. We're charging $425 if you are also attending the social activities over the weekend, $525 if you're not. That's a bargain. Oh yeah, those are the rates with the early bird discount, which was supposed to expire a few days ago - but we're extending the early bird discount through the end of this week. So if you want to sign up, do it in the next few days, and you can still get the early bird rates.
4. This is the only all-NSX track event there. Yes, all the drivers in the student run groups will be driving NSXs. The last time this happened at Mid-Ohio was NSXPO '98, nine years ago. It's not likely to happen again there for years.
5. This is the best time of year to go. October is the driest month of the year (on average - no guarantees, of course) and the temperatures are delightful, with normal daytime highs in the sixties.
Mid-Ohio is the most challenging, most fun racetrack in the country. It's AMAZING - whether this is your first time on a racetrack, or if you've driven Mid-Ohio for years. Don't miss this incredible opportunity! Sign up now at www.nsxpo.com.
