I was instructing at a Porsche Club event at Gingerman this past weekend. I had a chance to have Dave Finch as a passenger for a session. For those who do not know of him, Mr. Finch is a 6 time SCCA Runoffs Champion driving a GT-2 944. He engineers and drives his own cars and also does engineering work for many pro race teams. Dave rode with me and provided many valuable pointers.
Dave had never been in an NSX before. My NSX is a street car with stock suspension and full tread Michelin Pilot Sports (not Cup tires - these are street car tires).
Dave was totally impressed with the car's handling and balance. He felt it could use a little better damping. Running on the original 54K mile shocks, this is not a surprise! However, he made many complimentary remarks about the car and its capabilities right out of the box.
He also helped me find about a full second per lap. All in all - an amazing ride with a gentleman racer.
