Honda files NSX Spider design sketches with European Patent Office

One of our observant readers in Europe saw some new NSX design sketches on a French automotive blog and notified us. A quick search of the European Patent Office shows that Honda filed a set of six wireframe sketches of an open-roof NSX on 22nd February, along with the more traditional 3D renderings of the fixed roof version. As you can see the drop-top looks pretty much identical to the Avengers NSX. See all 12 images below.

Looks like the spyder gets funkier airvents on the side - more like the current NSX:

Don't think this is legit. Looks to be sketches of the Avengers car and although
pics of the car have been shown with NSX interior door panels and dash, the windshield is flatter and more upright than the concept car on tour.
The wheelbase is also too short to be built on a current NSX platform as some have suggested, I would guess the Avengers car and these sketches are based on a Porsche Boxter chassis solely for the movie. Doesn't seem reasonable that Acura would have different wheel bases and windshield designs for the coupe and rag top.

A few days ago, a group of patent drawings were released of the upcoming Acura NSX Roadster, but those weren’t nearly enough. Based on those drawings, we have come up with our own rendering of the future drop top sports car.

As previously reported, the Roadster version will look very much like the car that will be featured in the upcoming Avengers movie, except for the roof. The Roadster model will feature the same aggressive design language as the coupe, with a low windscreen and an aggressively-shaped rear deck lid. Under the hood, it will feature Acura’s innovative Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) system that combines a unique 2 Electric Motor Drive Unit with a bilateral torque adjustable control system, allowing the car to instantly generate negative or positive torque to the front wheels during cornering.

If built, the new NSX Roadster will be revealed sometime in 2014, a year after the coupe version.
