does any one know what is the white paint or material they used on the letters so that the orange light shows threw. They uses this on the door panel on the A/C and on the steering wheel console. And if we can get it and where?

Thanks

I dont not believe it is just regular paint. It has a translucent afect that allows the orange light to pass threw it from the back side. I am not sure what it is. That is why I am asking.

Thanks for all the help.

I haven't pulled a dash apart, but on the knobs the white part that lights up (e.g. "Vol On Off") is masked off and the rest is painted black. You can feel that the black background around the part that lights up is raised in comparison.

What you see is the light shining through the translucent plastic.

I think the plastic may be frosted on the back side as well (like a frosted light bulb) but there is no good way to tell without destroying the knob.

I'm pretty sure it is paint - it was worn off on the Volume knob on my other NSX and you could still see the remains around the edge of the dot.

The center was clear and did not show up as well at night from an angle - it only looked illuminated straight on.

How about using stained glass paint?
