Please beware. On Thursday I said I was getting a 1992 black NSX. it turns out the car was a total loss. The car is owned buy a dealer named GTA motors. the vin # is JT4NA1158NT800035. tHE TOTAL ACCIDENT CLAIM WAS $29332. My advice is to stay away from the car as the structural damage was not properly repaired.

I've seen a couple NSXs at what I believe is the place in question called GTA motors. It is on Queensway 2 lights west of Islington ( SE corner). Over the last 2 weeks I have seen a black one( probably the one in question) and a yellow but could not tell the year ( pre 2002 though). This place sells, leases and rents used cars and almost always has some exotics on hand. Have never dealt with them but if you wanted to know where it is, I'm pretty sure thats the place. I drive by pretty much everyday to and from work.

Trius - are you Explosiv's friend? He told me last week that a friend was getting a black 92 and I said that it was smacked really badly.

Glad you found out before it was too late. Thanks for posting this.

I don't know explosiv but being an Acura dealer I come across about 5 cars a year. I try to check them out carefully. This one was coming to me from a reliable source but when I did a UCDA check it came up as salvage.
Any one who wants a UCDA or CARPROOF check done a car just let me know and I will do it.

Ray, Do you have an NSX certified Tech at your dealership?

I guess why I'm asking, I know that most of the guys here including myself , is looking for a "NSX friendly dealership", where we can take our cars to get good servicing, and treated like NSX owners. (Something like the guys in the US have, where they have preffered dealerships in various locations).

Let me know if this is something you can do to accommadate the GTA NSX owners.

Thanks. Bram

Bram,
I have a Technician named Dal Petrina who Acura Canada has trained to be certified to work on the NSX. all of my techs would do a great job on the car because they would all like to own one. Any NSX driver that wants to bring the car to me would get VIP treatment including a loaner car (minimum TL). Just contact me and I will make all the arrangements.

I agree, that is really great to hear. Unfortunately burlington is really out of the way for me, but I"ll probably give Brant a shot and if I'm happy with their service, I'll be happy to go an hour out of the way for the peace of mind.

I meet Ray,and some of his staff at Acura on Brant last Sat. We spoke about getting some special arragements for GTA NSXer and the services Acura on Brant can offer.

I wrote an email outlining want we discussed, which was sent off to him during this week. As soon as we have a final agreement, I'll post an outlined of the proposal on Prime and send off via email to all the GTA NSXer.

Bram

Hey Ray, what is the value on a red 91 with 75k and tons of tasteful upgrades?
Thanks Brian

I would pay around 30k for it wholesale but it should bring 40k retail
I know of a 1991 with 39k and tons of upgrades available for in the 40k range.

What about Downtown Acura? I used to see a red one in there on a regular basis (Plate said "The End"?) but haven't been there for a few years. Are they certified for the NSX?

Argh! Another thread about my car!

----->:mad:

EDIT: Like I said in the other thread, I saw the work done, and am satisfied with it. I should also say that the guys at GTA Leasing were extremely co-operative when I questioned them about the car and very forthcoming. They made no efforts to conceal where the damage was and very forthcoming in giving me the documents showing the work completed. Of course the final verdict will come when I take possession of the car in mid-Jan and have a chance for a shakedown drive home from TO to Ottawa (I hope to god the roads are clear when this happens!), but I decided to take this car knowing the full details of its history and feel I still got a good deal. Ironically it has been the very fact that this car's been "shamed" on Prime that allowed me to pretty well dictate my purchase price and conditions so I feel I walked away with a good buy. As I have said in the other thread, please go gently on me, this is my first experience owning a true supercar (after a history of Japanese GTs like the 300ZXTT, SC400, R32 GTR and SupraTT), I happen to love online forums as I feel they truly add to the richness of the ownership experience, and I would like to be accepted here. ;)

Wow, that sounds good! il make sure to get in contact with you when i get my nsx in the spring. im in oshawa and il happily drive to burlington for good service.

Johnny - you ARE accepted here, as is your car. We all want you to have an incredible experience with it. All that is required to be accepted here is to love NSX's. Actually, no that's not true - all you need is to have heard of NSX's. :D

This thread was started before you bought it and before you came onto PRIME, AFAIK.

But, I recall you suggesting that the damage was $7k or something like that while a poster above suggested it was almost $30k. And trius has suggested that his search has revealed that the car has a SALVAGE title. If that is correct, it does mean that the car was considered a total loss at one point and suggests that the $7k repair you have suggested is not correct.

Which is correct?

If you have not picked up the car yet, before you do, it may be worth it to you to contact trius. Not saying you shouldnt pick it up, but more information is ALWAYS better than less.

Also give Red a shout. If youre interested, he can help you find a great one in the US where it is much much much easier to find nice cars and you will probably save good dough.

Whatever your choice - looking forward to meeting you next summer.

Thanks for the reply SPA, I did get in touch with Truis via PM and he confirmed that his info came from the auction sheet only without a personal inspection, which I undertook with my mechanic. The car is not picked up yet as I am still in Tokyo right now for the Auto Salon, but before I close the deal you can be assured that I will go over everything again and press for assurances from the dealer. My research showed that there was a total repair bill of $7K, but the claim paperwork was grouped together with the claim by the accident's other party for damages to their car which along with the $7K totalled $29K. The car has a clean title as well, not salvaged.

I am still very positive about this car and I think it will find a good home in my stable. Looking forward to seeing everyone this summer. There is an open invite to all Cdn Prime members to come to Ottawa this fall for a great fall cruise I normally organise with the local car clubs here. We take all the back roads into Gatineau Park through the most scenic mountain passes, continue through to Mt Tremblant resort and spend a night there. If we can get a good enough turnout I can make it an NSX-only event.

Great to find such a mature group of fellow car enthusiasts. Big Thumbs up to all!!
