So who has the best prices in the Toronto area?

Currently I'm running ES-100's on my car for their decent treadlife, good wet performance and low cost. Great bang for the buck, but I'm not crazy with the overall tire performance.

I'm thinking about switching over to the Goodyear F1 GS-D3's, which offer similar treadwear but seem to offer much better performance.

So I called around few places and here are the prices I've gotten so far:

front: 215/40ZR17 rear: 265/35ZR18

For reference, Tirerack.com USD prices:
Goodyear F1 GS-D3 front: 152 rear: 264
Yokohama ES100 front: 89 rear: 163

Steelcase Tires (where I usually get my tires):
Goodyear F1 GS-D3 front: 269 rear: 409
Yokohama ES100 front: 199 rear: 299

Tirecraft:
Goodyear F1 GS-D3 front: 289 rear: 470
Yokohama ES100 front: 210 rear: 310

I couldn't get in touch with Jeff at Tirecraft, but the prices above are what Dan quoted me.

I'm waiting for Erin Mills Acura to call me back with a quote.

So if I stick with the ES-100's, all I need are the rears (my fronts are practically brand new) and will only cost me $600+tax. If I go with the F1's, it'll cost about $1350+tax.

Of course it's all a big ripoff when you compare it to US pricing. Anyone have any other places they can recommend calling?

If you want to try canadian mail order, tire trends on the west coast usually has the best prices on tires without crossing the border.

They come highly recommended on several other forums I frequent.
They are also cheaper that the quotes you posted.

http://www.tiretrends.com/

F1 GS-D3 $239/$405
ES100 $158/$268

Prices are canadian.

Jeff is Stus help.

He's not the only trick up my sleeve, I get wholesale tires too, but Jeff's prices are not far from my costs and he puts them on for you and you can pay him with a credit card. You gotta pay me cash and I hand you four tires, you figure out what to do (I do have places that will put them on for you).

Prices in the USA can be cheaper, period. Its just a matter of shopping around to figure it out!

I think that Arshad should head over to Buffalo for rubber.

But dont do it yet - wait a month until the new Panasonic 60 inch plasma comes out. I need you to pick that up for me and tie it to your roof and sneak it across the border for me.

dude, I get Panasonic Wholesale here in Toronto, don't you worry, besides, it would balance better on your big-ass wing!

Ok, here's a price comparison, with all shipping/taxes etc. included. For online shops, I add another $100 for mount/balancing 4 tires. These prices are for the Goodyear F1 GS-D3's in the sizes noted above.

Note that tirerack.com does ship to Canada, but there is an unknown amount for brokerage etc.

tirerack.com $921 + $100 mount + (border taxes+duty+brokerage)
steelcase $1560
tirecraft $1745
tires123 $1530 (or online, $1419 + $100 mount)
tiretrends.com ~$1380 + $100 mount (only pay GST from BC)
Erin Mills Acura $1817

Tirerack.com is the cheapest assuming the brokerage isn't some insane amount.

For local/canadian shippers, tiretrends.com is the cheapest, but steelcase which is 5 mins from my work is only about $80 more and I can get it done right away rather than wait/transport etc. Tire123 shop is a little bit cheaper, but they're all the way out in Missisauga. So I guess I'm sticking with steelcase unless Nathan or Omar's guys can get me better pricing.

has anyone on here try the RA1 with 235 front and 275 rear, i am planning to get these for the summer, anyone know it the front will fit stock fender?

I think that at minimum you will have to remove the fender liner in the front. Also, make sure your rim is the proper size. Do you need a 8.5 inch for a 235? Refer to the "Ultimate Wheel Guide" thread for guidance.

I run 275s RA1s in the back without any issues.

I'm fairly certain you will get rubbing with 235 in front. Do a search for this -- I think the biggest people have gotten away with on the front has been 225 (and I believe that has some rub on full lock too)

right now i am running 205/275 RA1
i dont think the 205 is a good combo to the 275 rear, i am ordering a set of 235/275, and i think i will will street driving them too, wish me luck guys!

the front i have 17x8. hey BioBanker, i saw your car at the meet in Stu's house, i saw u running RA1s too, did u end up going to 235 front?

No, Im running 205/275 also. Personally, its working okay for me. I wish I could get wider, but I made a mistake when I ordered 7.5 inch rims.

I do not perceive ANY understeer though. I want wider fronts, but only to have wider fronts. Aside from throwing traction control off moreso than otherwise, I find that the combo works just fine.

Do you know of any reputable places in Buffalo to pick up tires at good prices like Tire Rack? The disparity is huge... We should organize a big tire run across the border!!

When I was in Socal, I paid about $640 US for a set of Falken F451 225/35/17 and 285/30/18 mounted and balanced.

The price disparity is unbelievable. Go over the border when your tires are completely shot. We should lurk around the north east chapter on Prime and search for a reputable tire place to goto.
