So I need to take my TL in for the B2 service. The dealer quotes me $600 bucks! I am like, are you kidding. He says that $300 is service to keep your warranty and another $300 is for a detailed inspection and fuel additives to clean on the engine. (that was optional -- something their dealership does to keep the car performing its best. )

I was not impressed. What total BS. After reading more on a TL forum, it sounds like even $200 is too much for a B2. Anyone here have one done or know?

Thanks.

Dumb question since I also have a 04 TL. What is a B2?

It is like the 30K service.

Maintenance Minder B Scheduled Maintenance
Recommended service for your 2004 Acura TL:

Replace engine oil and oil filter

Rotate tires

Inspect front and rear brakes

Check parking brake adjustment

Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box, and boots

Inspect suspension components

Inspect driveshaft boots

Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS)

Inspect all fluid levels and condition of fluids

Inspect exhaust system#

Inspect fuel lines and connections#

Maintenance Minder 2 Scheduled Maintenance
Recommended service for your 2004 Acura TL:

Replace air cleaner element: If you drive primarily in dusty conditions, replace every 15,000 miles (24,000 km).

Replace dust and pollen filter: If you drive primarily in urban areas that have high concentrations of soot in the air from industry and from diesel-powered vehicles, replace every 15,000 miles (24,000 km).

Inspect drive belt

I guess I have a ways to go before that then. We just hit 11k miles after year of ownership.
You're right though, that amount of $$ does seem pretty steep to me also.

I love these scheduled maintenances that have 90% "inspect" and 10% replace and they still nail you for big bucks. What a rip.

Are they saying that your warranty will only be valid if you do this maintenance???

Well... if you're using good gasoline (a reputable premium unleaded as I believe your manual calls for), there's absolutely no need for the snake oil fuel additives to "clean your engine". All that's going to do is "clean out" your wallet.

30K mile services on new cars (at least in my experience of owning various Honda, Toyota, Acura and Lexus cars) will run between $200 and $300. $600 is a reach around without a kiss.

My advice, any dealership that's trying to get you to do that BS of engine oil treatments is milking you in other ways too. Find someplace else to take your car.

And so you know... the line about "maintaining your warranty" (at least as I understand what you're saying) is also BS. You can have the scheduled maintenance done anywhere you want and you'll maintain your warranty. The work does not have to be done at an Acura dealer. If that's what they're suggesting, they're full of crap.

I could not of said it any better! Your warrenty protection is guaranteed with The Magnuson-MOss Warranty Act.
See www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/warranty.htm
Do not deal with anyone that outright lies. The dealer should earn your business with honesty, respect and not treat cust. like fools.

I called Goodson Acura and they quoted me $320. I called the manager here and I am getting it for $307 now. I guess that is OK.
