Titanium key??

If it were really titanium, expect to pay at least anywhere from $300-$800 to have it machined exactly as in one of the keys in the avatar list. Believe me, I've worked with titanium and even for flat sheets, it ain't cheap stuff.

Anyways, I was wondering too. Does the key come with certain models of the NSX or what? An option?

It came standard with the '91-96. It won't work with the '97+ because it doesn't have the immobilizer chip they need.

So this means if you do not have your "Titanium" key somewhere out there is a key that will open and start your car?

How many have it? I'm considering getting it...any reason not to?

When I got one, the dealer doesn't cut it. I actually went a few places asking if they cut "titanium" keys and was told they didn't want to risk their machine breaking. Finally, I went into one place and didn't even mention the "titantium" factor. They cut it in seconds for a couple bucks.

I suspect that some locksmiths could've really hiked up the price ($25 or so) if you go in telling them its titantium.

just my experience...

When I still had my '95 I got a titanium key as well, and the dealer cut it for me and emphasized that not many people can do it right.

Yes, but not one that will bypass my Viper alarm

And if they do, hopefully my GPS vehicle tracking system (lojack) will find them soon enough... This is discouraging though, I wonder what the original owners are doing with the titanium keys, if they're not handing them to the new owners?

Actually, the lojack is not GPS at all. I saw a special on tech tv the other day, it works with some kind of hand held unit that beeps and has arrows or something, but i do remember them saying it was not gps, however they did show some really cool products that are GPS and one even gives you your own web page that will let you know were your car is at all times (unlike lojack, that only the police have access to) it will even tell you how fast and what rpms the engine is running at, all you have to do is click on your web page. super cool anyway lojack still kicks ass
