Titanium Exhaust and Test Pipes

I have an RM exhaust, and I just received a set of ARC titanium test pipes. The lower test pipe is about an inch and a half short of the respective flange on the RM, and no amount of flexing the rubber exhaust hangers will suffice to shorten the gap. I'm considering buying an ARC titanium exhuast and am wondering if anyone out there is using this ARC muffler/test pipe combo, (or, for that matter, any other combo that will work with the ARC test pipes). BTW, my car is a 2001. I can only assume that the ARC test pipes will work with the ARC exhuast. Any thoughts?

Sounds to me like you got a "bad" pipe. Both cat-repl. pipes should bolt up to the stock location no questions asked. Even if you have an aftermarket exhaust it should still work. I'd call the place you got it from and verify the lengths to make sure you have the correct pipes. Maybe they're for the '91-'94?

If anyone has more info please post and correct me if I'm wrong.

Blurr--I'll be happy to give you the weights when I remove the cats again. The first time I had them out, they seemed heavy. The titanium pipes wiegh about as much as a pretzel. Make that half a pretzel.

DeHaldaswerth, Veleno might be on to something, maybe the test pipes you got are for the '91-'94 nsx? Are they curved or straight? You should have the straight ones to fit your 2001 nsx.

One of those big hot pretzels you buy at the fair, or a little dinky Rold Gold from Safeway?

NSX 36,

The pipes are both straight, so it sounds like they are the right ones for my car. In addition to the length problem, the flange of the RM does not appear to be compatible with the ARC. Anyone want to buy a very slighlty used RM exhaust?

I am running the Arc titanium cat back on my 2000 with the factory cat pipes. Everything fits fine. For the weight differences go to DaliRacing. It is about 30 lbs on the cat back and another 20 or so on the cat pipes.

I did not go with the cat replacement pipes because I was told that the O2 sensors would not operate properly and would trigger check lights. I was also having a difficult time in findind a shop to remove them due to environmental regs.

I was also told that it would adversely effect my torque due to decreasing back pressure and therefore may potentially effect my low end performance.

Keep us informed of your progress and results of various applications.

wildrice,

Do you have any pictures of your car with the exhaust on? Which tips did you get? What are your impressions of the exhaust? Thanks

Veleno,

Go to DaliRacing website. The pictures posted there are exactly what mine looks like. The diameter of the tip is larger than OEM and the tip protrudes farther out from the bumper than OEM. The angle of the cut is very similar to OEM. I was not aware that there was a tip choice. My tips are identical to the ones shown on the Dali site. The exhaust note is very mellow, with no vibration or resonance at any speed. There is a slight increase in db's but frankly, not very noticeable. I also have the Cantrell Concepts AIS with the Comptech Uni filter and the db increase is significant as the rpm's increase with this mod. The combination of the above definitely enhances the sonic qualities of the car.

The build quality of the Arc is exceptional, beyond reproach. If you can afford it, buy it. It is also a substantial reduction in weight over OEM, almost 35 lbs.

Chris, what are the differences between the street and track model of the ARC titanium exhaust and do you have any pictures of the track model?

Veleno,

Attached are pictures of my car with tips exposed:

I am running the ARC exhaust; highest quality but you pay for it, with test pipes the dB goes up ~5 and you would get nabbed by the sound lady at Leguna Seca. With cats its right ath the 92 dB limit, floored, uphill run in 3rd.

All in all one of the best sounding around.
