Tire shipping costs- help?

HI- I'm thinking of buying a set of used tires for another car off EBAY, I'm wondering if anyone may know or find a way to calculate shipping costs from Ohio to SOcal- zip 91767. They are four 195/55/15 tires....thanks

It all depends on whether you (or the seller) plan on putting them in a box or just put cardbaord around the tire. Just for reference purposes, when I sold my Integra Type R tires (which coincidently had 195/55/15s RE010s) it costed ~$60, this was from MD to WA using UPS Ground. FYI, I just used carboard and tape. You can also check fedex.com and ups.com for approximate costs.

Both UPS & FedEX have rates available directly on their sites - just input the size & weight of package, then originating & delivery zips. I have found that FEDEX ground service is actually quite a bit cheaper than UPS typically.

If you are willing to pick them up at a Greyhound bus terminal it is about 1/2 the cost

I ordered tires through Tire Rack and they shipped the Tires without boxes, Just a label on each tire.

As a reference point, I had four wheel/tire combinations shipped from Atlanta to N.Dakota by UPS Ground in May for $100. No special packing ..just cardboard taped over the rims to keep them from scuffing.
