Hey guys, just have a quick tire question. I need to replace my rear tires soon and was thinking about getting the same tire brand that came from the factory. Would anyone have a recommendation to a different brand that has better grip, handles better ect. ? This is for an '02 I belive the brand of tire from the factory is potenza. One more thing; if you guys do recommend a different brand then I will simply replace all 4. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!

This has been discussed a great deal in this and other forums. Some like the crisp feel of the OEM tire (due to it's unique internal construction) and some like a more modern stickier compound. Do a search for the tire size you're interested in or try words like Yokohoma or Bridgestone.

I am not sure but I think the OEM tires on the 2002, which are Bridgestone Potenza RE040 H0, 215/40-17 front, 255/40-17 rear, do NOT have the unique construction used on the '91-01 OEM tires, with their corner-specific design and built-in bias to work with the NSX alignment. However, I believe they are excellent tires nonetheless.

That being said, if you like the stock tires, I would continue to use them. And, if you're only replacing rear tires and not front tires, you should definitely get the same type of tire. Tires shouldn't be mixed (one model on the front and a different one on the rear).

Also, remember that the Potenza is a line made by Bridgestone, but they have many different models of Potenza tire. If you want to stick with (pun intended) the same great tires that come on the car, make sure to ask for the Potenza RE040 H0.

Compare prices. The stock tires are $211 front and $249 rear at the Tire Rack. If you're a member of the NSX Club of America, use your member number to call Discount Tire to check their prices with your member discount and see if they're less expensive, which they often are.

Were could I find info on the member discount? Will my local America's Tire store honor it?

The member discounts do not work on the website or at your local store. You have to call Discount Tire's wholesale representatives and order over the phone.
