I also am fortunate to live only 15 mins away from the border, where there is actually a business that accepts UPS, Fedex, etc deliveries for Canadians. I'm over there for sure once a week getting something ordered online. Better prices and infinitely better selection. I also run Toyo's, and despite some critisism on this site, I find them to be a very nice ride quality, wearing very well, and quite grippy in dry, and very quiet. (have never driven on wet pavement yet so can not comment on grip in the rain) The last set I ordered was from tiresdirect.net , shipped next day, and best prices I could find anywhere on the net. Although I am a long ways away from replacing these, I might be inclined to try the new Michellen Super sports....but I truly have a hard time thinking of what I could improve over my current Toyo Proxess.
I have ordered tires from both discounttire and tirerack before on other vehicles (winter and summer tires) and find them both to be very good also. The increasing problem I am finding (probably because so many Canadians are now doing this) is that the local tire shops want ridiculous amounts to install and balance, because you didn't "buy them there"...I was recently quoted $70/tire from the local shop, which starts to negate the savings in the original purchase price. fortunately I was able have a friend of a friend do them in his auto repair shop for $15/tire. Did a nice job, steady as a rock on the road.
Anyway, good luck with your search...
