I could see a very light tinting making sense under certain conditions.  I ride at night with my tinted motorcycle helmet with some regularity simply because taking an additional shield everywhere is not practical.  Riding without a tinted shield can be extremely dangerous.  Yes you cannot see as well at night, but reducing the glare from on coming cars almost neutralizes the negative aspects IMO.  Driving on country roads or anywhere totally lacking light, which is bound to happen in your daily driver, is not wise with even light tinting.  This is coming from a young gun with excellent vision.
