Timing Belt Tip - Super simple, but well worth the $

After reading the factory manual, Larry's write up, and MANY MANY threads on this website, I decided to get my T-Belt done.

I just want to share one simple tip that saved me hours.

SeaFoam Deep Creep!

I have used this on various other stuck bolts vs PB and WD and it just is in a league of its own.

I sprayed a load on the crank pulley bolt, and came back after a half hour. The bolt popped off with almost no effort using the rental tool from Oreilly to hold the pulley in place.

And I am a measly 120lbs sopping wet so you can understand why I was prepared to be frusterated.

Anyhow, thought i'd share my success story!

Good luck DIY'ers!

can I get these at autozone or anything. I am getting ready to do headers, so I'm looking at what I need.

Most Oreilly sells it, not sure if Zone does. I'd imagine so. I've used that stuff on Halfshaft nuts, Exhaust bolts / nuts, and just about anything else that is stuck with just tremendous results.

Just make sure to let it sit for 15-30 minutes and then go at it!

3.5 hours of solid work today, and its all ready to be changed... then the arduous task of reassembly. The ITB's kinda made it a LITTLE trickier up top...

I intend on doing itbs... Seems as though I am so far. I need to win the lottery

I have an EGR valve bolt that is apparently f#*king WELDED in place. I am buying a can (and possibly a jack hammer w/ rocket launcher) and will report back.

when you do your headers go buy a few extra studs for the headers I have found at least one will snap from age.

my 2 cents

normally i use PB blaster or Liquid wrench let it sit long enough the oil will seap thru. but I am def a fan of sea foam products

Well, I was hesitant because it is simply a can of pure petroleum. Not rocket science here. But I picked up a can as well as some reverse drive splines for removing rounded bolts/nuts. I sprayed and left for an couple of hours (other work to attend to) and then loaded the bolt remover into a screwdriver. With wrist power alone I was able to remove the stripped nut. I'm pretty impressed. A new EGR and PCV on the MDX and she is humming again.

nice! Sorry just thought i'd check in on this. Still use this stuff all the time. Knocked my second T belt out using SeaFoam again!
