From what i have found from 2 months of research on buying a nsx ... It ain;t going to be easy.....to get the colour ..the year...the price ..the right history all in one car.....i;ve tried to get 97 to 2001 for 40-45,000 the ones i liked were more then i wanted to pay (dealers)or not worth the price after history check......anybody got something that could interest me send me a message .......it;s time....thanks

What exactly are you looking for (color, mileage, price)? I generally search the classifieds daily just to record what's going on price wise...

There are quite a few nice 97-01's on Prime. I suggest you widen the search back into all of last year. That's how I found my Imola....it had been posted 8 months prior to when I approached the dealer. Guess what? It was still available...

the examples you gave are all good ones but when 40 u.s becomes 50cdn the formula gets complicated .....to bring a 40u.s car in with exchange broker, transport etc. costs app. 70000.00 then sales tax on 47......now start doing the math on 42...44...47...u.s .....my budget of 40 to 45 cdn is shot......leaves me no choice but to look at cars around 35,000 and i haven;t found anything i like ,,,,,,shopping in canada is my next option .....looking for a good deal on this side of the border if that don;t work i will go back u.s side in spring

Cam, have provide you with some very good examples of NSX that are currently for sale.

You have two choices...up your budget or wait for a fire sale...you will NOT be able to find a 97-2001 in Canada within your current budget.

These are all very fine cars!
I really like the coupe and any 2000 - 2001 for the upgraded ABS and hidden headlamps. Those years are my favorites, but silver would be a compromise.
Nice finds though.

Friend who is not on Prime or in the Club of Canada has a 98 with 45k kms on it....kaiser silver...100% stock....MINT

Car is in Toronto.

He is NOT a motivated seller tho - so you'd have to pay up.

Don't compromise to buy what's here in Canada, take your money to the US and buy a car like I did. The same car here would have cost me over $5k more than I spent. Plus I got a trip to California to spend a few days checking out some really nice cars. Taking a car across the border is easy just be prepared to pay up to 20% taxes+duty on it when getting the NSX into Canada. Of course try and shop as close to your province as possible to save on costs. If anyone tries to tell you it's not worth it then just ask them if they have ever done it themselves and more importantly-recently (due to the high loonie).

went to see one yesterday...97 in my price range ...in my city...the best one yet...some minor issues with replacement of a catalyser and possibly and few hundred in maintaince but all in all not bad...this makes 2 on my list,,,,,,,.. things are looking up...As far as not getting the car I want for the budget i have.... I think I might be 5-10 thousand off but so is the market right now ......TIME TO BUY

i miss understood when you said a COUPE like that would be hard to find ...thinking you meant hardtop which i believe would be a special order in those years...my mistake

Waiting till spring may not be the best if you're trying to save money... Maybe hope for one more cold spell and go out there with cash deposit in hand...

Cam, since you posted this, the Rare 98 coupe sold.

I think the seller may owe you some commish!

as nsxftw ( F.T.W ???) says maybe spring may not be the best time to get the best price from sellers (spring fever) I:m still on the hunt but after a few months of educating myself I:ve decided to take the time it takes to find the one I want... year ...colour...condition ... history...pay the price... bram told me early in my search it will probably be a little more than I first thought ... I found 3 in my price range and decent condition just not the right color or something...I would have bought any of those as my first but not my last... but after taxes and maintenance cost it would be hard to sell a year or two down the road without losing too much to upgrade so I:ll buy right..once...for a long time

FTW = for the win

I don't think it matters. When you're looking for a car and you're not willing to pay market price for a nice one - let's face it, you're looking to steal one rather than paying market value - luck plays a far, far more important role than the time of year.

I never expected a to STEAL someones garage queen but I am interested in BUYING a nsx for 40-45 ....I should have said a 95 and up (targa)and let the market decide what year I end up with...I:ll do my homework and keep my luck for the casino

Yes, if you're looking to keep your purchase price down but you want the NSX-T and its removable roof panel (only Porsches are "targas"), consider a '95-96. The substantial improvements that began with the '97 model year carry a significant premium in market value (as does the '95-96 NSX-T over earlier coupes).

nsx-T the t is for targa referring to the roof as for pricing I,ve seen 2002 2003 going for 50 or 91-92 asking 40 ...the market price is the amount people are willing to pay not the price people who don,t want to sell think their car is worth

Targa is a registered trademark of Porsche. The NSX model with the removable roof panel is called the NSX-T. You can call it whatever you want but anything else is wrong.

Sounds like you've got a lot of negative attitude. Hope you can tone that down if you're going to stick around here...

You may want to listen to Ken's advice...because he is one of the most knowledgeable person on the NSX and have been on this Forum for years.

what part of my posts would qualify as negative attitude ...where i responded to your comment that i was looking to steal a deal or not willing to pay a fair price or was that thing about porsche humor...I will find a car that fits my budget ....negative attitude is when people say you can;t...I say I can... ...$45,000 I don;t think I;m insulting anybody so i;ll hang around this forum a little longer....

I went to see that 99 for sale ...it belonged to donwon and charliesung in it;s previous lives .....salvage ....because of my budget i was still very interested in buying this car but after a thorough investigation into it;s history I had to pass
