Time for a coolant flush

I am about to flush the cooling system.
Turns out my car has some standard green coolant. (not sure what kind) Probably not extended life stuff at that.
Mixing coolant is a no no. So a complete flush is in order before I replace the coolant.
Honda has their special "blue coolant". I have read many great things about this coolant. (part number anyone?)

I know Honda does not make coolant, the same as they do not make engine oil or MTL, but they specifiy it's formual or contents.

Does any one know who makes Honda coolant? or should I just go to Honda to purchase it? (p/n?)

Of course the safest thing is to use the Honda coolant. If you don't, at least use a long life coolant BUT avoid any coolant with silicates. That was the "miracle ingredient" some formulas used a number of years back that had the side effect of caking around seals and slowing grinding them up, resulting in leaking seals on water pump shafts.

Would you be certain the coolant was the exact same? Even if you found the manufacturer it could be different from Honda standards. Parts stores have Honda equivalents, but would you trust them? Would the savings be enough to worry over it? I went to a Honda dealer and I'm sure it's the right stuff. That's what I'd do - and did. Happy Motoring!

Very simple, buy Honda coolant , follow manual for replacement procedure,do not listen to sales people from autozone, advance auto, or any other parts place,I could take you so deep into this subject my keyboard would wear out

flushed and replaced it today with Honda type 2 (blue) pre-mix.
It took a couple of tries to get rid all the air in the system, but is fine now.

thanks.

Honda one is cheaper

My Honda and Acura dealers sell them for the same exact price. But I wouldn't be suprised if yours is different. There is an official list price by Honda Motors, and there is dealers unofficial "list price."

I've found dealers that mark up their price over 40% above official list. And the parts guy has the nerves to tell me "I'm a good guy and he will give me 10% off this price." Sure buddy, a classic attempt to mark it up to mark it down

Exactly the same price here between Acura and Honda.
and the price is reasonable as it is about the same as an extended long life from the auto supply retail stores.
Honda part number here in Canada: CA66688
