So MS is tie in points with FA. What the hell happen to Alonso's car half way through the race while leading was beyond my comprehension.

BUT!!! Alonso did an awesome job and salvaged what he had. Tied instead of behind the points standing. Two more races to go... Championship basically started fresh. As much as I hate to say this - Great job, MS!!! This race was won by strength and skill, not by favoritism.

Button did what he could and took home fourth place, the last corner drive was… something of a miracle.

Next week, Suzuka will be a very interesting race.

According to Renaults spokesperson Michael threw a screwdriver in Alonsos transmission.

Yes, and as much as I hate to admit it too, MS showed how great he can be. And that he doesn't need to cheat.

Acutally, all the top four drove a brilliant race with MS most impressive.

Well actually FA is acusing Renault of cheating against him.

Alonso slams Renault for title sabotage - 03 October 2006

Fernando Alonso has accused his Renault team of not helping him to win the 2006 drivers' championship. To the Spanish press, the 25-year-old reckoned the French squad - to lose Alonso to McLaren at the end of the season - is focusing instead on the constructors' title, now led by Renault after the 2-3 finish in China. Evidence of Renault's lack of interest in putting Spaniard Alonso on the top step of the podium might be Sunday's strategy and pit errors.

'AS' newspaper quoted Alonso as saying: 'They wanted us to finish second and third because they do not want me to take the number one to a different team.' He said there is 'no doubt' that the constructors' championship is therefore more important to Renault in 2006, and added that only 'some' in blue and yellow uniforms were disappointed to lose the Chinese GP to Ferrari's Michael Schumacher. 'Some others are happy,' Alonso continued, 'because we went past Ferrari in the team battle. 'They are not helping me as much as they could.'

I really felt bad for Kubica. Ballsy move to be the first to put on the dry tires; based on what it looked like with the dry line forming nearly all the way around, I thought it would have been a good move, but it obviously proved to be otherwise.

I have a feeling he's going to be one to watch in the next few years.

Kubica is da man. That Sauber team needs to get their heads out of their butts. Why not put the slicks on Heidfeld first? Kubica was in a position to score some major points...I hope Kubica and Heidfeld both find other teams if that's the best the team can do.

 This mystifies me. Of course the team would be happy to go back in front of Ferrari regardless of Alonso's standing.

I don't see how Alonso not being able to keep in front of Fisi and MS is Renault's fault...that "saving tires" explanation is a huge pile of BS however. Still, there's no way in a season this tight Renault would not have wanted Alonso to finish 1st...the constructor's is far from sealed.

Anyway--Renault chose to let the #1 driver go--he signed after he won the title and Renault chose to let him walk. You gotta pay to play. Ferrari doesn't seem to have a problem paying drivers.

Now Renault is stuck with Fisi as a #1  and Alonso gets to drive a bucket of bolts McLaren that Kimi was smart enough to split from...

Unless McLaren reliability goes up and the Hondas go faster just hand the title to Ferrari in 07. :frown:

2 Things:

1. MS smells blood and has for the last 6 or 7 races. Now that he's tied, I think he's unstoppable.

2. FA is deflated. He has watched a 25 point lead evaporate. He'll be full of excuses going forward to and I think, he might just be giving up as he's changing teams, and may be a little intimidated by the big, fast, red shark that just caught up to him.

PS. Renault's previous Championship is looking more like the result of the tyre rules last year than some unstoppable driving from FA. I don't think he's a future MS. Kubica - sharpen your pencils, they are going to trip overthemselves to sign him if this kid keeps goin like he is!
