With a stop over in Wawa as part of my circle tour trip this September.

Any "must stops" along this northern side of Lake Superior?

You'd probably want to stop for moose :-)

You're circling the great lakes? Are you coming down the 400 or going even further east?

Just Lake Superior. From Minneapolis north to Thunder Bay then east to Wawa, south to Sault Ste Marie then back west thru the UP.

There are a lot of scenic pull off areas along the north shore so just be sure to take your time.

You may want to stop off at Eagle Canyon just outside of Thunder Bay and take a walk along Canada's longest foot bridge (suspension bridge). I haven't done it myself but people I know who have, highly recommend it.

Thanks Dave! We have a 7+ hour drive that day already but plan on leaving early and arriving late to accommodate many stops.

Can anyone vouch for the condition of Hwy 17 on the north shore?

My receptionist and her husband just did it 3 weeks ago in their miata. He has to be the fussiest car I have ever known and he made no mention of any bad roads, but he did flat spot a tire during a panic stop to avoid a deer.
