I'm Bryan who used to be active in the SoCal NSX group back in 1994/1995. I had a red 91 5-speed manual then, and met many of the OG NSX owners like Doug Hayashi, Alex Vizcarra, Raymond Wizco, Michael Kwon etc back in the day. Even Chris Wilson who was a cocky young kid with big plans back then!

In 1998 I replaced it with a new silver 6-speed NSX-T, which I sold 2 years later.

I moved back to Singapore 20 years ago and have always dreamed of owning another but there are only a handful in town, and all automatics.

Singapore as some of you may know, has some of the strictest car laws and highest car import tax in the world (up to 320%!!!). In 2025 the original NSX reaches 35 years old, which means it is finally legal to import one and register as a classic car (LOL). Last week I bought a silver 91 5-speed with 44K miles which will be on a ship from Japan to Singapore shortly.

It's nice to be back in the community, and I already have a bunch of questions which I will be posting in the forums as I rejoin my NSX journey!

P/S: remember car bras? LOL!

WELCOME BAAAAAAAAACK BRYAN! Happy New Year indeed! (Might want to reach out to @Honcho to see if it's possible to get your old Prime username back.)

Excited to follow your next chapter! 320% is incredible (Many other words I thought of to describe this, but this one is printable), so I'll stop whining about taxes here in the Great White North. I take it the taxes on classic cars are more palatable. That car looks to be in gorgeous condition.

I have the car brazier's other ugly sister, PPF on the front half of my hood & fenders, but I don't know who did it or when so I'm afraid to pull it off for fear of pulling some clearcoat with it... It's amazing what people thought looked good and/or would improve longevity back than - "Say, I'm worried that I might get a stone chip or 2 that I'd have to repair." - "No problem, how about this black plastic cover that will get wet and soggy, flap around, and ruin the paint along a line across your hood from one wheel well to the other, & really highlight any sun-related paint fading?" - "Excellent! I'll take it!"

So you have you arranged for delivery at 12:00:01 on New Year's Day?

So I used bras on two Hondas for many years. If they got dirty they were carefully removed and cleaned. If they got wet they were dried and cleaned up before using again. They fit well and did not move around at high speeds. They never left marks on the car and provided great protection. They didn't cost thousands and pull the clear coat off when you removed them. If I could get a quality one for a 2003 NSX I would in a heartbeat. 🤤

Thanks Wild Turkey! I don't think I have another Prime username. Back in the day it was just a simple website by Dr David Hwang, and a mailing list which I was on and where all the discussions used to take place.

In Singapore you need to buy a "certificate of entitlement" or COE which allows you to keep the car for 10 years at a time, and currently costs US$80K. For classic cars I only have to pay 10% of that, but I am limited to driving it for 45 days a year. I still have to pay a little over 200% tax over what I paid for the car at auction. Oh well it is what it is!

☹️ That's wild. Thought we were overtaxed around here.

Somewhere in my basement, I have a Colgan Bra for my 02 NSX that I used for about the first 15 years of my ownership. It protected the front end from all kinds of damage, in wet and dry weather. The bra did sustain some minor damage (didn't effect it's usability) when a small animal crossed in front of me, and got "eliminated". My entire car is now wrapped in Expel. I'm not sure if Colgan still has it available, but give it a try.

My NSX bra was made and sold by Acura. It has a nice "NSX" logo in red where the badge would be. I bet there are some sitting in a warehouse somewhere!
