Things I didn't know I would love about my Gen 2 NSX

Not a review, just a couple things that are unexpectedly awesome that I thought I would share.

1. Flying buttress. Wow. So visually striking in person. Such a cool detail.

2. Quiet mode. Fun to tool around in EV mode at low speed, and a real luxury GT experience on the highway.

3. The "organic" sound of the induction noise and blow-off valve. Sounds like a beast breathing behind your head. Super awesome during spirited driving-- feels and sounds "alive."

4. Overall sound of car is crisp / precise / mechanical. Conveys a sense of "highly engineered" more than "loud an brutal."

New European Prime member here. I've been reading with increasing excitement what the actual owners say. Suggested delivery for me is November.

How many miles have you been able to get in Quiet mode? In low speed and on highway?

I love the sounds right behind your head. when i drove it in ohio, i was like whoa thats cool!

personally, i dont need the sound of my car to arrive before i do. dont need that kind of attention. if i do, nothing an aftermarket exhaust wont fix.

yes, the flying buttress is a great design feature.

any issues with ground clearance...?
 
Quiet mode is cool in heavy traffic.

Ground clearance is an issue. There is one gas station I cannot enter on one side and I can only park on one side of my garage.

No more so than other sports cars. Seems to be able to take a standard speed bump straight on without scraping. Bottoms out a bit and scrapes something on back roads-- same as other low cars. I wanted this to be a positive thread, but a negative, related to how low the car is, is just how tough it is to get out of, especially when you can't swing the looong door all the way open. I would not want to park in a standard width parking slot next to another car. But I'm a pretty big guy so others may not find this annoying.

Time to add 'Lambo doors'. LOL! :)
 
I've had my car for 3 weeks. Agree with christn, plus a few more.
1. I daily drive the car to work. The suspension is extremely liveable even in pothole filled roads.

2. The optional Andaro paint (I have blue novelle) is really spectacular. I get as many compliments on the paint as the car itself. BTW, the compliments and attention on the car are non stop. The naysayers who says car is not a looker need to take the car out and see people's reactions.

3. Even tho the car is extremely low, I've never scraped anything yet.

4. Seats are extremely comfortable.

Talking about wipers.... you know how you cannot lift your wipers on your 1st gen as they hit the hood?
On the new car...... same.
I guess you call that soul.

First, just turn them on/off slightly .. and then you can

If you think the NSX is bad .. you should try an i8 .. even with the doors wide open! I couldn't believe how bad it was .. same on the passenger side. BTW .. beautiful car

I'm going to have to check this out next time. This honestly makes me happy. I hate seeing protruding wipers at the base of a windshield when driving and love when they're hidden. I'd like to imagine this was intentional by the original design team. :)

FYI, from the 2017 owner's manual, page 390:

1. While holding the wiper switch in MIST
position, change the power mode to
VEHICLE OFF (LOCK).
2. Wiper arms will move into service position.
3. Lift both wiper arms

its funny, at the specialist training, they were very proud of how wide the doors opened for ease of entry/exit
 
As long as you have room to fully open doors (and have gotten used to ingress/egress), NSX isn't that bad--- but it is bad compared to many other sports cars.
I can say... it can't possibly be as bad as a 12C/650S. There is NO middle setting on those doors. It's all or nothing. If you get stuck in a tight spot I hope you have a friend that will hold the door for you or it's a comical gymnastics contortion show.

In 25 years with my 91 NSX I have no door dings but many walking miles from the far reaches of the mall/supermarket parking lot.

I drive my NSX for just about every trip that doesn't require more
ground clearance or carrying capacity than the car has. I have
lots of walking miles too (not complaining, walking is good for me)
but when necessary the NSX gets parked next to other cars.
106,000 miles and no door dings so far.
