They seek him here, there seek him there
That Scarlet (Ok - Formula Red) Pimpernel is everywhere!

Our very own hero parries, thrusts & cuts to shreds - there is no hiding place!

Just one question - does he wear his underpants on the outside?

One way you can see how old people are is to throw out a song lyric from 1966 and see who recognizes it. Many of the members of these forums weren't even born when that album came out.

Of course, that way you're dating yourself, too, there D'Ecosse...

Dating myself? Sounds a bit narcissistic, no?

No, I wasn't even referring to the Kinks (one of my all-time faves I might addd!)- they borrowed that line from the old Scarlet Pimpernel hero - I recall seeing this show as a boy - although it was obviously running much later than the year it was in production!!

Come to think of it, the Kinks actually used to dress in those type costumes with the ruffled cravats - seem to remember Eric Clapton dressing similarly in the Cream days - obviously they were the dedicated followers of fashion a la 18th century variety - don't they say there's no new fashion? - It just comes around again?
Seriously, nice rebuff on the quoted thread!

The Kinks, ahhh, and I used to wear those puffy shirts. The kind Seinfeld wouldn't wear. One whiff of patchouley and I'm there again.

I remember those days, but patchouley isn't the fragrance that comes to mind.

Of course, you know what they say about the Sixties - those who claim that they can remember them, weren't there.

The Kinks? And all this time I thought you folks were quoting Daffy Duck from the Scarlet Pumpernickel...

(as we in the Kinks Preservation Society say with *proper* tone and volume):

God Save The Kinks!

(any more Kinks posts and we need to move to off topic)
