If you're adding a turbo to a car, and presumably trying to enhance performance, why would you want lower cylinder temperatures? You're not going to pass an emissions test while driving the car hard, with or without a turbo. And if you're driving the car hard, the stock thermostat is fully open. Probably because they're not concerned about emissions or the time it takes for the engine to warm up. Purpose built race engines have purpose built cooling systems. Why do you use a thermostat?
