yeah, I've been playing F1 05 and F1 06 on the PS2 for some time now. The F1 06 for the PS3 has some big promises and looks awesome.

F1 05 and 06 for PS2 lack better graphics 1080i that GT4 has as well as 900 degree instead of the extremly lame 180 lock to lock... at least F1 05 you could adjust the steering sensitivity, in F1 06 there is no adjustment so you are stuck with 180.

I know that the graphics will be top notch... let's hope the rest come along as well. This will be the first Official F1 release in North America since I think 2002...

Those clips are from E3...check out the ones from TGS 2006.

I asked someone at Sony why F106 doesn't have 900 degree support...they said real F1 steering wheels only turn 180 degrees (so the 200 degree mode is closer to reality). I haven't much opportunity to play it since it doesn't work in U.S. PS2s (so I have to use debug stations at work to play it).

Even if F1CE didn't come to the US, PS3 games are region-free. The Euro version will have English, so it would be sufficient. I have the Japanese version of F106 for PSP (PSP is also not region locked for games)...wish I could read Japanese ;)

As for the PSP rear mirror...I'm hoping it supports two (since I have two PSPs)!

Unfortunately, that is absolutely incorrect. Yes, F1 cars do not have anywhere near 900 degree steering but they definitely have up to 360 degree. All you have to do is watch any race at a venue with slow tight hairpins i..e Monaco, USGP...

I'd say max would be about 400 degrees but definitely more than 180. Who ever you spoke to at Sony doesn't have thier info right. Watch the Chinese GP this weekend. I'm sure you'll see lots of crossed arms at the hairpin (turn 14) or that crazy first corner (Turn 1, 2 and 3)

PM me and I'll get your F1 06 up and running on a US PS2...

Game looks nice...bring on Online support and get everyone on Prime to race each other!!...problem is the field might be all Honda hehe

So your saying there will be a field of about 7 blown engines?

but they definitely have up to 360 degree. .

According to the official F1 site: "The steering wheels are not designed to make more than three quarters of a turn of lock in total"

Of course, that would mean 270 degrees...so both you and the Sony guy were wrong. The 200 degrees supported by Driving Force Pro is not enough to get the full range, but 900 is overkill.

LOL!! At least the field will be even. Just a matter of whose blows up last.

Almost 100% correct! :)

It is 270 lock-to-lock with the exception of the Montecarlo setup, where it is slightly higher, around 360 degrees due to the very tight hairpin.

Ferrari's setup at Indy this year for the infield turns (at least for MS) allowed for 360 or slightly more.

Design, sure.., but when do you see F1 teams designs idle for more than 1-2 races? If they need more steering lock to help control 1 tight turn, they'll make the necessary adjustments to the car.

It's more likely that Sony figured, for 90% of the tracks you only need 180 so coding the game and adding time to the SDLC isn't worth it. Unfortunately, the spirit of F1 racing is that the last 10% of improvement is the difference between winning and losing...

Might as well do it right and allow at least 360 Lock to lock. Let's see if that's the case...
