I just remembered the Corvette Indy concept and it looks like a good direction for a future NSX. I heard the Corvette Indy was one of the ideas used for the NSX. I don't know Chevy might have bitten the NSX for the Indy. Based on what I've seen it has the basic shape, mid engined with a V-8. That sounds like a recipe that everyone wants.

Like every cars corvettes started from concept cars. Here is pictures of two concept cars that could have ended in the definitive version of C5 Corvette ( honestly, I would have prefered one of those two instead of actual "dumb" one. )
The Corvette shown above is a pure prototype named Corvette Indy by Chevrolet.
Its design lines really cutting away from usual Corvette style.
Here is a Mako Shark Corvette ( "blue shark" ), the concept car that gave the Stingray ( to be written in one word ).
This car has been created under Bill Mitchell's initiative.
