Ever notice the intoxicating aroma of leather in a Ferrari and wonder... 'Gee, Why doesn't NSX leather give off that brand new baseball glove aroma each time I get inside?' I have no idea why this is. Is it due to some kind of treatment the NSX leather gets? Thanks for the input.

Actually in Japan the scent is removed it must be a Japanese thing. They find the smell offensive. This is true as that was I heard online here once before when someone asked the same question.

Nothing offensive but I just think the Japanese are weird in this case.

I, for one, do love the great smell of leather. I guess it's sort of like an exotic smell and I love the scent of Porsche leather.

Good stuff.

If you go to www.griotsgarage.com they sell leather scent in a spray bottle. 2 sprays into the interior and the car will smell like leather for a week or two.

Yes, that is kinda wierd but so is eating dog, cat, sushi.
I'll pass on the dog and cat
BUT GIVE ME ALL THE SUSHI!!!
PS.....I love the smell of leather too!!!

doesnt really bother me whether the car has that 'new leather smell'

i would probably prefer not to have it if it was an option, cmon really - u like the smell of skin off a dead cows ass?

not on my important list sorry.

I wish my car had that strong leather smell. Get in a Lexus and it smells like a shoe store. Nice.

At least it doesn't smell like raw fish, though. Amazing what some people will eat...

I heard/read somewhere from a credible source that the smell of fresh leather can interfer with your mind (like women do) and degrade your level of "brain-performance" which in term can translate to worse driving ability...

A friend of mine had his worn NSX seats redone with Italian leather by a craftsman who I can only call a genious. What a beautiful job. The look, the feel, and oh, what a smell. Mama Mia, the Dolce Vida. I will definately do this when finances allow.

In my experience Griot's leather spray does smell much like leather. Griptone in the UK makes a product designed to do just this - put the smell back into leather. Perhaps one of our British posters could report on this product?
