I am considering putting test pipes on my NSX. (Eliminating the cats) Has anyone done this and found a good increase in power? The guy who installed my NOS kit said I would feel a big difference. Anyone have experience with this?

hello, i went cat-less on my first nsx.. not again on my second!! i installed the exhaust, headers, pipes and intake all in one shot so i don't know if the pipes actually made a big difference. i can say though, the whole package kicked butt. the problems with the pipes aside from pollution include making your exhaust sound a little raspy and making you smell like you have been mowing the lawn. on the nsx i have now, i am only going with the taitec exhaust and hks intake. good luck

I just happened to install the Taitec by-pass pipes and had my car dynoed this past weekend. My current set-up is an ECU chip, K&N drop in filter, by-pass pipes, and HKS exhaust. Before the filter and pipes I dynoed 258 rwhp. This past weekend with the new filter and by-pass pipes I dynoed 251 rwhp

The difference in numbers is probably due to the differences in tha temperature and humidity down here.

I'm pretty satisfied with the dyno numbers, and my car is not that loud compared to the Tiatec exhaust systems that I've heard.

I am running comptech headers/exhaust, dinan chip, comptech air intake and about a year ago I added the comptech bypass pipes to my setup. There is a definite raspiness to the exhaust note...some would call it a growl that wasn't there before. In terms of power, seat of the pants would say I gave up a bit of bottom end and picked up a little on the high end. I feel this is logical as I now have less backpressure. When the car is sitting at idle there are definitely some toxic fumes. Hope this helps.

i have them on my 91 and they did make a slight increase in power and add a raspiness to the sound . for the money id say they are worth it. as far as smell goes, ive got none, same as it where before. although, i dont sit there and stand behind the car breathing in fumes. if your interested i know someone who has a brand new set of stainless bypass pipes for 220.00 bucks and no overseas shipping costs.

Thanks for the help. I think I am going to buy a set. If it doesn't work out it is only a couple hundred bucks. Thanks
BTW Allan you have mail.
