test pipe for NA2

I know SOS makes test pipes for NA1 cars, but does someone make one for NA2 (2000)? I just put my Tubi on and it isn't much louder than stock... I know that sans cat will make it much louder, but will it be extreame? Seems that test pipes would be much cheaper than headers to try and see if I like it. Still have the stock header, how much louder will switching to headers make it? I am not overly thrilled about spending $1500 for headers for a modest HP gain (ie vs 2000 headers). I am not looking for obnoxiously LOUD, just want it loud enough that I can enjoy the sound too.

Don't get test pipes if you're looking for a performance gain on a NA car; there is none, unless you have forced induction. Get the headers if you want an improvement.

Ken, he's looking for an increase in dB from the exhaust, not an increase in hp. Removing the CATS and installing "test pipes" can increase the dB of the exhaust by as much as 20%. But adding aftermarket headers to a 97+ does not increase the dB of the exhaust at all

Also, the change in header for a 97+ NSX is minimal and not worth the $2000+ purchase and install cost IMO.

They say 95-99.... so I guess it won't fit a 2000????

I'm pretty sure they will fit (I hope since i'm looking into it as well). You should check with dali-racing first though...just to be sure:biggrin:

Is the Tubi new? If so, before you do anything give it 500 miles. It will change as it bakes in, and get louder. So do not judge it immediately.

You have an ODBII car and removing the cats will cause a CEL, since it tests the cats performance.

Old style Tubi... was told it has approx. 7000 miles on it. Actually I think you (LB) did the orginal install and modification of the passenger side flange (Dr. Leonoff's 91). What about a test pipe and the anti-fouler trick, anyone have any luck with this and the CEL? BTW: No emission testing in my state. But i won't drive it on the street.

I'm in the same boat as you, I want just a little more tone out of my comptech, but they do not offer it as a regular part as of now. I have the header and SC going in soon, but would like a spare set of test pipes to swap out for some extra hp with the blower and some tone.

There is a quick way around the cel light. bolt 2 sensor bungs found at any muffler shop on top of each other to pull the after cat sensor further out out of the path of the gasses. No cel, and for less than $15.00. Another option is an actual part that is machined, but serves the same purpose or yet another route is an electronic fix found with instructions on any good website that sells aftermarket subaru and Mitsu evo parts will ahve both of these. I think rallysport.com has them

65, let me know if you have a set made or buy a set, I would love to know your before and after impressions too.
Matt
