Terrible ABS pump noice

I don't know what it is. My ABS pump once a while turns on by it self in normal city driving. I understand that when the pressure becomes low it will turn on and readjust it by pumping fluid but the noise is like a fan would be hitting metal or like a metal scraping against something. Grrrzzzuuu

I test all the solenoids by giving them - and + from battery all work fine and they send fluid fine. Also when I brake hard ABS works and it does not spit any error codes to ECU.

My question is: is this noise normal or my ABS pump is busted ?? Maybe new ABS pump is very quite ??

Thx,

Have you bled the ABS?

The same as you describe.........

It's not a very nice sound, check under troubleshooting (in the faq) for 'whats that noise' (i think, damn, where's that faq nazi!!!!!).

Dutchy

The NSX ABS pump is fairly loud. Every NSX I know does this. As long as it is once in awhile, I don't think it is a problem. More often may be air, pump failing, or sticky solenoids. The sound, in my limited experience, is pretty much the same though across the board.

I had the same noise--about once a year. I also had solenoid stick and pump runs for 2 minutes and cuts off as designed. Great mechanic at ACUNDA of Tampa told me how to fix it. Turn off car--restart and after a few seconds pump will start again--find a puddle or loose sand and nail brakes--solenoid will often right itself--mine did.
Acunda is a good place to take your NSX.
