I apologize if this is off topic, but I am interested in visiting some winery in Temecula. I am not a wine buff at all, but just wanted to get some fresh air, away from the city for a few hours.

Any recommendations on good winery to visit in terms of scenary, interesting location, good food combination ..etc (more into the food combination than the actual wine, again, since I don't konw much about wine).

To bring it back on topic, I will be driving the NSX out there :)

thanks for any input.

Your in luck.....I just spent Sunaday & Monday down in Temecula and I have a few recommendations fresh off the dome.

If you plan on staying the night I would highly recommend South Coast Winery. They have beautiful villa style rooms as well as a great restaurant "The Vineyard Rose" http://www.wineresort.com/

I had lunch at the The Smokehouse Restaurant which is located at the Ponte Winery. Great food!! and nice gift shop http://www.pontewinery.com/php/index.php5

Maurice Carrie is a must stop. Not to fond of the wine selection so bring your own, but before going in the wine tasting room make sure to pick up a fresh order of Brie-bread.....it's to die for...

Wilson Creek is by far one of my favorites on Temecula. The Almond Champagne is awesome and the layout is very nice http://www.wilsoncreekwinery.com/

and lastly I found Keyways Winery this time around. It's not off the main road but it a must. The Krystal Ice Wine is....well I'm a lost for words.....very costly but worth the purchase.

there are so many more good wineries....but these are my fav.

I believe you can get a map at http://www.temeculawines.org/

have fun

When are you thinking about going? Maybe a few of us could GTG for lunch or something? Temecula has ALOT of history, and it would be cool to see a few NSX's rollin' down Olde Town Front St.

I think David wants to be alone with his lady on this one....correct if I am wrong. But if you like twists and turns, join us on the Palomar run next time. You'll love it.

Thanks for all the helpful info. I think a GTG would be great too to meet owners from that area being that I don't get out there all that often.

I've been to Napa once and thought it was fun. I am just exploring the SoCal winery for something that can be done in 1 day instead of taking the 6-8 hour drive to NorCal.

Ortega is definitely a fun drive in the NSX, but I may have to take freeway 15 being that my GF does not handle twisties well at all and I'd rather not have to clean up any up-chucks in the car.

Thanks again.

ShiftyBob, I saw the beautiful picture of your car and your 'little' property out there, would love to visit someday. I have a close friend in Murrieta that I don't visit often enough. I love their 5 acre home. I think it's big enough to setup a little Auto Cross course :)

C'mon down, I like Wilson Creek and Thornton also...Im just around the corner from them.

David, let me know when you plan on coming down here...haven't seen your mug in awhile:biggrin: we'll have to meet for lunch or something...

I figured he might, but he didn't mention it, so I was just taking a stab at a GTG

How about we all make a day of it and crash his lunch? When you coming down? I'm sure the ladies would love it too. Keep us informed.
