Anyone know if it is possible to swap the springs on the Tein Flex so that the front has a stiffer rate than the rear? Has anyone done this or similar on another coilover? Any drawbacks?

Thanks,

Daniel

The front springs will not fit on the rear shocks and vica versa. You can order rear springs from Tein.

Check with Tein for how much you can change the spring rates with the shock valving.

^Actually, with all due respect, it can be done, and Tein even says so. :)

You can move the front springs to the rear (they are slightly shorter, but it works fine). I've done this, it makes the rear slightly softer, not noticeable.

You can* put the rear springs on the front as well, however it is not recommended, as they are longer. But they do technically fit. Just keep in mind the shocks are designed for a certain spring and it shouldn't vary too much.

You should email Tein, they provided me with support when I was playing around with my Flex set up.

Thanks for the input. I will try contacting Tein, although I have never received an email reply from them. Maybe I should call?

I thought about keeping the fronts at 560lbs and just getting a set of rears at a lower rate but you can only go down max 110lbs which would make front to back about equal. So I'd have to buy 2 sets of springs anyways to get a stiffer front and softer rear. Would need to go up in the front to 672lbs and down in the rear to 560lbs.

So that would be 672/560 as one option without have the shock portion revalved. Or if I moved the fronts to the rear and got the 672lb springs for the front that would be the same result just half the extra expense but that would be the racing springs in the front and the street springs in the rear. So that option would be linear front springs and I'm guessing the stock Flex springs are progressive?

Any comments on those rates?

Thanks,

Daniel
