TCS sensitivity

Searched the forums and FAQ regarding the TCS and didn't find any satisfactory answers to the following observation I made recently:

While I was driving in damp conditions on the freeway around 70mph, hardly giving any throttle input on a straightaway, the green TCS light under the tachometer started to flicker on and off. As soon as I removed all throttle input, the light went away. It didn't feel like the TCS was doing anything at all... I'm running stock sized tires...

Is this normal? Has anybody else experienced this? Just curious if it really was the TCS system kicking in, or something else...

Thanks!

I always know that TCS is kicking in before I notice the light... however, I'm usually under heavy accleration. I don't know what other mods you have but my TCS used to be really sensitive. I do have rims, but they fall within the same ratio of stock tires so that shouldn't affect it too much. The thing that affected it the most was getting my suspension tuned and having the car weight balanced. After I did that, the car was so stable the TCS only came on when it was really needed. It used to come on more often than I would have liked before I got the car setup correctly.

The next time TCS comes on and you want to see if its doing something, give it some gas and if you feel no power you know its TCS. Hope that helps.

George,

I have found that the TCS will kick in if one is driving through small puddles at high speeds or under hadr acceleration on wet pavement. I have a stock tire/wheel and suspension setup and feel the TCS is responding as expected.

stock sized tires doesn't necessarily mean stock tires. Depending on the kind of tires you may have less grip on dry or wet (or both) and more TCS activity. I experienced TCS working in 4th gear (of 6) and about 100 mph with snow tires accelerating on dry road but never with stock tires in same conditions.

Funny this was posted, I have noticed in my experiences that it takes a lot, even in poor weather conditions, to get the TCS to come on. BTW, I have stock wheels/oem tires.
