Well I found the skirt I've been looking for. I've always loved the Marga Hills side-skirts but I've always hated that extra piece sticking-out in front of the skirts for non-widebodied NSX.

Thanks to very nice prime member lazynok (Nokoni), he told me that downforce has the new TCRC (Team Comtech Racing Crew) replica skirts which is pretty much Marga Hills without that bulge. I met-up with Nokoni during my trip to LA to show his skirts and from there we went to downforce met up with Sami (I think that's his name) and bought a set.

Test-fitted it Sunday night and this is how it looks along with wings-west spats.

This is like a 30 minute fitting, I haven't screwed anything yet but this skirt uses stock tabs so its really easy to install. I will have to drill couple of holes in the bottom so its not hanging but I'm very happy with the fitment right now and I'm sure my body-guy will make it fit perfectly without too much work. So if you're like me who likes the MH sides but don't like that thing infront of it, get these instead.

Oh I also got the Marga Hills front bumper so my trip to LA this past weekend was very enjoyable.. haha.

I also want to thank Nokoni for meeting up with a complete stranger, showing his side-skirt and going with me to downforce. Also, thanks to downforce for accomodating me. Office is closed on Saturday but accomodated me anyways. And thanks to prime-member NSXEXY (Lee) for selling me the MH bumper..

Now I gotta go to work on this car. Need to send this thing off to the body-shop next month.

I like. How much lower is this sideskirt to the jack points underneath? Thanks.

I saw those side skirts at downforce when I picked up some stuff there several months ago. I have been eye balling those side skirts ever since. I agree, they look cleaner than the marga hills and the fit better with the front fenders. Also, you don't need any door panels like the stacy style side skirts. Very nice indeed. I like your advan T5 wheels, I can't wait until mine get in.

I love those skirts as well, but the only thing about them is, I think they hang down very low. So on a car as low as mine no chance.:biggrin:DSC02666.jpg

Please post more pics when you get them mounted and painted. I am looking for some "Stacy/MH" ss myself but i can't decide which ones will flow the best with my planned front bumper and i still haven't seen any rear that flows well with either.

I don't like the idea of having to go 02+ to mount the Stacy's ss but i also don't want anything thats going to drop down too far and get banged up easily. Do you have any measurements of how much lower these are than stock?

Very nice looking.

I had MH skirts last year and after only 9 months I ditched them after it cost me $600 for the skirts, $400 to mount and prep them for fitment, and $300 for paint. In the process of removing them they were destroyed due to the way the shop "over engineered" the mounting of them (basically they were impossible to remove). Overall...a very expensive experiment.

I love the look of MH but in the end it was the fact they hung 1.2" lower than the jack points which turned me off of them. Had I known that fact beforehand I would have just gone with the Stacys I have now. It made the car very undriveable. I was constantly paranoid when I saw road imperfections, curbs, or speedbumps. I cracked them 4 times in those 9 months and got very good at taping up the cracks with black duct tape and shooting a layer of black undercoating over the tape to make it look decent (thank god I have a black nsx).

Good luck with yours. Also the WW spats would not be my first choice with those skirts. Try and find the MH ones or (Nico) NSXBox's design.

Regards,
John

Heres a picture of them mounted and painted on a white car (mine). And about the low hang..... these are MUCH lower than stock. When i had 15/16 SSR wheels, I would bottom out on monster speed bumps... but with 17/18 I was fine... and now I have 18/19 and its even higher... so yeah

Also about the jacking points.. they are about an inch over the bottom of the sideskirt.. took be forever how to jack the car up the first time.. then i figured it out and it was easy from there.

Great product from DF and great fitment and service. Oh yeah, Nim, his name is Sam.

Anyone not wanting that "ugly" (relative) thing sticking up in the front but loves the marga hills should definately check these out.. after all.. they mount like OEM =]

Cant wait to see your car done, Nim!!!

I think these would look more correct with the front bumper i'm planning on using and they also are a bit more exotic looking to me than the stacy's but i do worry about the ground clearance since these are fiberglass and i've had back luck with low hanging fiberglass in the past.

Don't the Stacy's sit at the same height as oem?

I still haven't seen a rear valance that matches any of these skirts very well either. Which rear do you guys think flows the best with the MH and Stacy's ss?

Thanks guys for the props..

They are very low indeed, and I'm sure its about 1.5 inch lower than jack mounting points (I'll measure tonight when i get home). I am currently running eibach springs on lower-perch bilstein shocks, and its about 4 inches off the ground. yikes.. I drove to some moderate bumps, I didn't scrape but there was virtually no space between the hump and the skirts.

Most likely I will raise the car-up (top-perch), that should help a little bit.

About the spats... I'll probably install the wings west for now. I don't like it from the back but it looks nice on the sides. What I really want is the MH rear-diffuser and spats but I have not seen anybody running this setup, so I'm sure I need to order it from Japan and that will take a long time. And besides, I'm broke now. haha.

Nice skirts, but I want to know where you got your rims and do they come in deep dish, plus what size?

The rims are Advan Model 5. They are discontinued now but there is Advan Model T5 as a replacement. It looks pretty much the same, but the twin-spokes of the new T5 is more spaced-out than the older Model 5.

There are no deep-dish/no lip for these rims and this is how I wanted it. I wanted concave wheels. I wish mine was more concaved though, but since they're discontinued I really didn't have much choice.

Hope this helps.

Hey Lee,
I haven't installed the bumper yet man. I tried it last Monday, took the stock bumper off and everything but I'm not quite sure how to mount it. I think I have to remove all the plastic infront of the car to make it fit. Then there are couple of brackets that I have no clue where it goes. So I gave-up and have the body shop do it for me.

How's your MH front fenders going?

niM

Lookin' good Nim. Car is super low with your suspension setup and I don't know how long your skirts and MH bumper will survive the bay area roads. What color you going to paint the car?

Hey Leo,
Long time no see man.. yeah I am a little worried about the skirts and bumper but I'll raise car up so that should help. The bay area roads are really not that bad, I mean you've seen Rachel's G35 right. That car is really low as well but it still can go to places.

I'm going to paint it yellow, not quite sure what yellow though. I got 3 choices, rio yellow pearl, lambo yellow, or porsche CGT yellow. I really need to see a CGT yellow in person first but it looks amazing from the pictures.

Hope everything is cool with you man. Gotta play poker again with you guys again soon.

Yo Nokoni, did I really mentioned it a lot to you? haha. Its nothing special, no crazy mods because well its hers. She doesn't need crazy mods. Its very low but I give her mad props for not hitting anything. Actually I'm the one who mostly did the scrapes on her bumper. :frown:

Lookin good! I would sure murder that front bumper in less than a day! My cars been thru a lot of changes also lately.. I'll post pics when I find a worthy camera.

Also, the more I look at your custom Red... The more I think you should keep it that color! Looks very unique.. More shots??

Oh yeah, you're going to install stock 02+ lip and skirts. Yeah I'd definitely want to see that.

The current paint job of my car looks pretty good. I like it especially when the sun hits the creases, it has some very nice orange flakes and it looks exotic. However it looks dull because of how the previous paint guy shot the flakes on the car. The car definitely needs some re-paint especially the front-end anyways so I figured might as well go all out and paint it with the color that I really want. There are lots of red cars out there and they do stand-out, but it doesn't stand-out as good as yellow. :D

Ill head down South on December with the sex (car should be finished by then). Maybe you and Lee can accompany me to that meet you guys were talking about. There are just so many good looking NSXs in SoCal compared here and would love to see them all in one place.

I like that G35 styling... we are in R&D for a clean super GT style widebody 350z and then the G35 to follow... available in a couples months.

Mad props on no scraping too... I had to fork out the cash for the VRH suspension from Ravi... I don't scrap anywhere either... and I gottcha beat buy an inch or too...

Again.. nice clean ride
