A few of us are getting ready to run the Silver State Classic in Nevada: http://www.silverstateclassic.com/

One of the question we need to answer for Tech inspection is information from the manufacturer (Honda/Acura) regarding the rollover protection on the Targa model (we may have 2 such entries).

Thanks to Wei-Shen Chen who won the event in 1999 (after NSXPO 99), and to Tom King who won the event in 2003 with 0.5 seconds!!!, they already paved the way for the coupe which has received an exemption from roll cage requirement up to a target speed of 165 mph. We don't plan to run that fast on our first outing .... ;)

Any information that you may have regarding this matter for the Targa would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: By the way, I am aware of the FAQ Technical details on the 1997+ models: http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Technical/1997body.htm

This info is great. Can someone, Lud, identify the source where this info came from?

At what degree of racing is a roll cage required? While I don't plan on attempting the Silver State Classic, I do have to pass a Tech inspection for NSXPO04. Is there a speed regulation for different levels of roll over protection?

Every organbization has its own rules when it comes to Targas.

Regarding the Silver State Classic, the NSX coupe has been exempted up to 165 mph target speed - which is different from the average speed for a particular run Division. The classification details and the requirements are on their web page.

The organizers of the Silver State Clasic have no info on the structural integrity of the NSX-T as no previous NSX-T have run the event; so they have asked us to provide some info.

As for NSXPO 2004, you should ask the organizers. I am not aware of any previous NSXPOs where roll cage was ever required. We did not require it at NSXPO 2003.

I have been to the last three NSXPOs and will be going to the upcoming one and a roll cage has never been required but you do need to keep the top on.
