Hello all, I'm interested in taking off the engine cover on my '95, but I use the targa holder pretty frequently here in sunny Colorado. I know there are a few solutions, the fabric roll up cover (can't recall the name), or just wrapping the top in a blanket and putting it in the trunk. Neither is particularly appealing to me. What I'm wondering, has anybody ever made, or considered making, a modified targa holder to mount in the trunk? You would still retain some trunk space (I don't need a lot) and there wouldn't be any shifting around like you could have with the blanket wrapped top. I'd really like to show off the engine bay (also am contemplating a CTSC), but not give up the open air experience. Thoughts?

I decided to keep my trunk instead of cutting it out, and now stick my roof in my trunk quite frequently, and it actually fits amazingly well- and I've never had any damage or sliding as a result of doing so. It only fits in there well one way.

I've also looked into significantly modifying the OE engine cover latch mechanisms to serve as a roof holder back there in the trunk, but shelved it as low priority. IMO the NSX has plenty of room for long trips, and the roof panel so long as you pack light and are careful.

I recently just removed my targa holder/engine cover to save some weight hehehe and also I dont take my top off as much. If I do take it off I just throw it in the trunk it fits perfect, just slap a blanket over it.

That's what I was referring to (roll up cover), couldn't recall the name. The carbrella can't be used while driving though, can it?

You are correct, it is not designed for driving.

As for those who think that it's safe to keep the top in the trunk, wrapped in blanket or otherwise, be forewarned that any spirited driving with turns and you will not only damage your top but may also dent the fenders, CD changer and whatever else you keep in there. YMMV.
