jlindy is right. The challenging part is not to scratch that delicate little plastic ring just below the shifter. You must depress the two little clips at the 12 and 6 oclock positions just above the ring, then pull the boot down. Then unscrew.

changing shift knob

wow, that's some really excellent info !
i like that carbon fiber trim too....
i didn't realize you can take the center console off that easily....
i need to , cause i have to fix the temp. aspirator fan....or replace the motor more likely, which i hear is only $12....
i will do both then at the same time...
i did my a carbon fiber top half, leather bottom half shifter knob but i'm not sure whether i can fit the boot flush with this shifter...

am i getting this then..... that if i can't get the boot to be flush with the bottom of my new knob, i can reverse the chrome ring and make it at least look ok....? how do i make it look right, with the new knob?

it's from
www.exoticwooddash.com site.....

$12??? I thought the aspirator fan was something like $140.

 Guess I should keep the extra one I have laying in my tool box then. I was thinking of selling but since I live in the South, and it gets really hot here I shouldn't let it go.

fan

well, the fan i'm talking about isn't stock asssembly...oem stuff is i hear $400 or so...

i'm talking about small 40mm computer fan you can get at Frys'....and slow it down with a resisitor....
