Hello everyone.

Do you take you NSX on vacation? How secure do you feel parking overnight at hotels?

My 94 NSX is not a garage queen but I experience a certain angst every time a car in front of me kicks up road grit, etc.

I'm thinking of a driving vacation for my honeymoon - any opinions and/or tips are appreciated.

Kind regards.

Shawn

I have driven it many times all over the country in 20 years with no issues other than you need to be a creative packer to fit everything. But I don't worry about road grit, etc. I have 164,000+ miles, 115 track days and 13,500+ track miles on my '96.

Drive it - don't worship it!

First and foremost is the car is a (from the good ere, a Honda)!

I drove Lucille from Corpus Christi to Orange County and back a few weeks after 9/11, to visit friends. I’ve also driven her from Corpus to Seattle, and lots of places in between.

Is Lucille factory new? Of course not, but 100,000+ miles and she still looks great.

I find people are very respectful of the car, but I do have a cloud configured front and rear dash cam with motion detection for those hotel lots.
Best highway car you can drive!

I bought my 91 in Vancouver and drove it back to NC, a trip of ~3400 miles. Most comfortable car I've taken a road trip in, and no issues in terms of security.

As others have said, are you going to remember leaving the car in the garage or the road trip? Especially a honeymoon.

The NSX is one the best long distance cars I ever owned. I could drive for 12hrs straight only stopping for gas, food, and a piss break. My Lotus Esprit was just the opposite. I could only drive it for 1.5-2hrs before I needed to get out and stretch my back and legs. I was also able to get 25+mpg with the cruise set at 90mph. There aren't too many sports cars where you can do all of that.

I was pleasantly surprised at how awesome the car was as a highway cruiser when I drove from Houston to Elkhart Lake for NSXPO. I never worried about it in hotel parking lots, but maybe I'm foolish for that.

I drove mine 2000 miles to bring it home. It did fine. Make sure the AC is charged up; the large canopy gets hot otherwise. Also, the sun shines in a lot; my son got a little sunburn on his right side.

I've driven mine on multiple long distance trips for NSXPO and for other meets. It's very comfortable. I've had no issues at hotels. I usually just park where I can see it from a window, and I have front and rear cameras with motion detector.

Yes, NSXs are great on vacations...especially in groups...

When staying at hotels, I try not to valet park...even at five star hotels. In the few instances I've stayed in places without a self-park lot, I have gotten permission to self-park with valet escort. 17+ years and no incidents thus far...

My longest road trip by duration was 9 days for NSXPO 2003. My wife and I packed creatively since we had to leave enough space for my racing helmet, my camera gear, car cleaning supplies.

Of course, if you're worried about parking at hotels, you could always stay at an airbnb

I flew to New York City to buy mine, then drove it home to Colorado. When asked for room preference (queen, king etc) I would respond with "first floor with a window facing the parking lot". My wife would go in first, turn on the light then I'd park the car in front of it. As I flew into NYC I couldn't bring a weapon with me, but if I was going on a road trip I'd be armed. But that's true for any road trip with any car, honestly.

As for what to watch out for on the road, obviously keep your distance from the car in front of you to cut down on rock chips, but also, don't drive later at night. Our cars will clear a dead possum/raccoon but not a live one. Playing dodge-the-nocturnal-rodent at interstate speeds is not fun :)
