Take a look at what the 'fbody' boys are saying:

The file clerk at the law firm I'm at has a camaro, and is always on this board (I guess as much as I'm on prime). Just thought you guys would be interested in seeing how they happen to describe a run in with an NSX. (FYI: I kinda think most of these guys are adolescent teenagers)

I don't care anymore...

I don't know if anyone else shares my sentiment on matters like this, but I've reached a point where I just don't care what people think anymore. In the end, the NSX owners know what they have...

The only exotic sportscar that can be affordably driven daily. A very quick car still by today's standards (no matterwhat model year you own). A car that still evokes excitement and stares among passersby. A car that provides a sonorous roar at full throttle, a refined whirr while cruising, a second to none cabin forward view of the road, and rarity and exclusivity.

... all of this for the bargain price of 40K and UNDER for an early model year example. An econo-box forum can pontificate all they want about price vs. perfomance using their own biased metrics, but our cars will always win out in the price vs. experience metric.

Compare all you want, but there is no car quite like the NSX... the sportscar bargain of the century... or perhaps more eloquently stated on the back of each of our climate control units, "An Eternal Sportsmind For You"

Couldnt have said it better myself.

Wow,
They must think so highly of the NSXs that the sight/sound of one evokes so much hatred and negative energy from them. Thank you so so much! How about another round of sour grapes? :D
Steve
PS. At least there is one guy who thinks the NSXs are good all around sport car like the Farrari (sig).

Personally, I have driven one of those american muscle cars. It was a Camaro SS, '01 I believe. At high speeds it felt like I was in a boat trapped in fast moving water with little to no control. It rocked up and down slowly as the road fluctuated in hight slightly. Very unstable feel. Personally, from the seat of the pants (not an accurate measurement I know), the car didn't feel all that fast to me.

At least I can proudly say that all of us will have extremely reliable and some of the most technologically advanced sport cars ever built.

They will have high powered boats on wheels that are certain to break down after 100K miles. Maybe I am wrong. But I believe american muscle cars do not have the same reliability as many foreign sport cars, especially japanese models.

Things I've noticed about F-Bodies at the track:

- Decent peformer for the money.
- Good straight speed
- Wheel hop under braking sucks for them
- Not so good turning
- Boils power steering fluid
- Even the FI ones don't seem like they are going any quicker.
- Lots of traction lost in the corners.

Still, I like those cars. Saw one yesterday and thought to myself, "Gotta check out AutoTrader.com for one of those, looks sweet." Did I mention they sound great too? They are great performance values though and can be modded to be a great track (of course I talking about a road course) car. Albeit for much dinero. I think they'd be great daily drivers w/ minimal mods. I did[/] test drive one in 2001 and cruised to about 70mph at only 1800rpms. That was kinda cool.

Still again, even the FI f-bodies I encounter at the track are passed w/o much difficulty. I do have to time it however so that either I outbrake them or give them enough room so that I get enough momentum thru the corner to pass them on the exit or straight.

To Autotrader.com I go. Of course, I'm not selling my NSX!;)

Ummm, I looked. Why do all the stock ones look like they're 4x4's? What's with this factory fender gap? Ick, on the wheels too. And 25-30K to boot.

Hmmm...an '86 944 Turbo is looking better.

I can't believe I actually read that thread. As tempting as it is to post a reply, it would be a complete waste of time as exemplified by the rational attempts of a few posters.

However, there is one highlight in that thread! Yes, yes, but only one. If you scroll down 80% through the thread, you will find a guy who's signature has a photo of his Silver f-body with him sitting in front of the car.

Why is this a highlight you ask? Well as I read, I tried to imagine what the posters in thread looked like... I subsequently developed a mental picture of my thoughts. Then as I read further down the thread, shazaam there it was...... a spitting image of what I imagined! His words and thoughts on the subject marry quite well to his picture.

i just read all of the ignorant bull on that site.

Well right now i have 93 NSX and a 96 SS out in the front of my house, I parked them side by side and looked at everything in comparison. Both are actualy nice but the NSX is......................i need not say more due to the fact I might hurt the SS's feelings.

Look, you have different cars for different reason. I like all sport cars, but some offer way more than others in my eyes. However, according to those kids, owning any mid-engined or high-end sport cars must be really suck.

I read that thread. It's futile trying to change the minds of people like that, it's like yelling at a wall. And given the difference in maturity levels between the two forums, it's not surprising that most of the posters over there are limited to vocabularies comprised solely of four-letter words. Let them have their opinions, there's a reason why GM killed off the f-bodies while Honda still sells the NSX (hint: it's certainly not because the GM cars are better).

No, the funniest thing about that post is that he can't count when making his list of reasons of why his car is better than an NSX. Says volumes....

The other funny post was some other guy that said:

Oh yeah, and by the way, the NSX top speed of 175mph is 5mph slower than the Viper, so be prepared for an @ss whooping if you temp one.

Interesting statement...

OMG!

People like that just kill me. How in the world can you compare an F-BODY to an NSX??? I'm glad the NSX is $90K so everybody and their sister doesn't have one just like the F-Body. If your talking about pure straight line performance, which really isn't the point, I'll put my 1.8 litre Type-R dyno sheet or 1/4 et up against any of them. All the F-Body and Mustang guys around here have all learned to respect my Acura's the hard way! Don't let them bother you, it all comes down to ignorance and jealousy.

i just like that fact that they think that we dont work hard for our money......and that we don't work with out hands....

the funny thing about that thread was that they originally compared a NSX to a f body....no doubt that a NSX is better...they all know it by dragging a corvette Z06 into it...

i live in Canada and all the f bodies at the track are slow how slow...like the best i seen was low 15's .....maybe they cant drive .....but i did see a stock 92 NSX here do 14.1

the thing about these kids that post is that they say they would not buy a NSX even if they had the money..i remember saying that when i didn't have the money....but in the end i bought the NSX and i dont regret it.....

nad yes it is great to work in an air conditioned office from 10-2 4 days if the fbody poster is reading this ..and not to sound snobby to the fbody posters..it is nice to have money...

I just wasted too much of my time reading their tripe.

Paul, you were very eloquent. But it's like trying to reason with a goldfish.

I stand by my earlier post in this topic...

Oh well, the fun's over! They deleted the post. Those of us who gave into temptation and actually posted got a message stating the reason that "this is not a RICER board if you do not like it then leave". That's hospitality for 'ya. Damnit, I wanted documentary evidence of the stupidity of some of their members!

Question: So why do you think that the F Body could spank an NSX?
Response: Because you are a c***sucking fag. I will beat you up. I will shoot you too.

BTW: the last time I had checked, which was a while ago, that thread had been viewed well over a thousand times! Hahaha!

I just think thats its really pathetic. But I used to be like that when I owned my Mustang...I used to HATE rice. In fact, I said the only import I'd ever own was a Supra. Sheesh...when the time came to get a new car, I flew right over the supra and bought an NSX.

Just pisses me off when people don't know what they're talking about.

And as far as a viper on a road course...you MUST be a professional driver to drive that thing the way they say it can be driven...it gets absolutely NO traction coming out of corners if you exit half as hard as you can....oh well, I still rather have an NSX.

In another thread on there, one guys thinks that GM invented VTEC, and sold it to Honda :p :p :p

My simply question is, how fast is a STOCK F body anyway. One guy said the NSX was crap because it only does 13s stock. I though only the Z06 can hit under 13 seconds in STOCK form. I'm sure a few good drivers may have gotton a stock f body under 13 seconds as well, but some NA2 NSX have gotton under 13s as well as the NSX-R. Is stock Camaro,Firebird, or Corvette (Not Z06) really under 13 second stock?

Stock to stock, I never had a problem with any of those cars other than the ZO6. We raced quite a few time together, and I constantly get them.

omg ..i can't help to think that these people in the f body are nothing but morons..they think that vtec is for fuel economy...that we sacrifice HP because of vtec......now they are comparing a 1.6L = 160HP to a 5.7L LT1 = 275HP LS1 = 320HP...

someone in that forum must have a NSX and a fbody....

Hey, it's like eavesdropping on the conversation at the playground of the local grammar school during recess!
Yikes, that was difficult to read. There are a few reasonable voices over there, but they get drowned out by all the prepubescent noise. All they can do is mutter about how the Z06 & its LT5 engine is the greatest thing since sliced bread, though no one owns one. I bet even Corvette owners would be ashamed of the behavior in that forum.
