Can anyone here who has the pre 02 Taitec Type-R hood tell me what bonnet duct they have (is there a Taitec one?) or whether the Downforce duct fits?

The Downforce Duct fits great and works, it is just a weird design (circular design at the bottom that wraps around the radiator fan shroud). ProCar makes an NSX-R replica that works well, or you can buy the OEM NSX-R plastic piece and the supporting hardware. If your car is left-hand drive, you will have to relocate your front fuse box to accommodate the NSX-R duct.

Thanks 01a4man, just what I wanted to hear. My car is RHD so will probably go for the OEM NSX-R duct.
No problem! Here is one on Yahoo Japan for pretty cheap. You can purchase it through Buyee since parts on your side of the pond are pretty outrageous.
