Hey Guys.

Sure most are tired of this subject now, but I decide to dive in with both feet and try to make my own set of taillights and side lights. Will be looking at the LED bulbs. What is out there just does not fit on my project car. After spending the day reading about all the taillights and side light questions and answers. I came home and tore mine apart. Both of mine are in just fair condition and was going to replace them any ways. So nothing to lose here.

Rear Side marker. I just took a exacto blade and ran it around the light lip a few times and it just came lose. YEAH. Every one said you could not remove these with out breaking them.

Taillight. After reading some one posted to use boiling water to losen the glue. I decided I would try my bathtub. So I took all the parts off of the light and laide the lens and shell in the bathtub and turned the water on as hot as I could get it. After about 10 minutes of it soaking I started very easy with a flat screw driver prying it up around the side and places and in no time I had it off. It took me about 7 minutes to get it off. Once I had it started coming apart. I just simply slide the screw driver down the lights. Once you get it apart. Try to remove as much glue as you can.

Ok. So I never saw any pictures of what all is in the taillight assembly. So I took some pictures to show you guys what I have found out. Seem like a very complex set of lens for what all it does.

You can also see what I am doing to my car.

Nice job DiveBoy - I'm right behind you in this project - you got started ahead of me with some other projects I need to finish, but thanks for the tips!

As far as posting the pics, you cant link directly to Yahoo - hence the red x's.
Upload the pics directly to your own 'Prime gallery then link from there.

Some tips here, including how to create linkable thumnails

Thanks D'Ecosse

I think I spend the whole day reading your post and Malibu Rappers ones. Now I just have to come up to speed on LED lights. I am once I get this figure out. I am either going to make a DIY on how to make a set of clear corners or offer up some for sale to people on here that dont want to spend $475 for the ones for Clear corner.

I have to learn a little bit more about the parking lights and what it is going to take to wire all this up. I am planning 2 or 3 rows of LED. 1 row of white for parking lights and 1 or 2 rows of amber for turn signals. Have to figure out how to turn the whites off when you turn the turn signals on. And I now you have talk about the flasher part.

Then I will start on a brake light set up. I have a really cool idea but not ready to give it away yet. Have to tune in to see what I have in mind.

Hey Guys.

If any of you have bought the Clear corners Turn signals with the Dual LEDs can some one take some close up pics of them for me. Also if you have any of the pics of the back or inside that would be great too.

Also wanted to see what you guys might like. Do you want them to look amber all the time. Amber for Parking/turn signal or like the clear corners where they are white for the parking lights and amber for the turn signals.
