Are these the gaskets that sit on top of the tail lights were the trunk closes down...
I just had a lot of eletrical work done and thought everything was great till we got some rain..Then my whole trunk was flooded and amp was destroyed..
I traced it to the gaskets on top of the brake lights
Snakey I think you are talking about the weatherstrip that goes around the perimeter of the trunk opening. That is Part # 74865-SL0-003. The black plastic piece on top of each taillight unit (#4, 11 in the pic) is not a gasket- it is a bezel that screws in with four screws.
The only taillight gaskets are the ones that go between the taillight unit and the body. These are usually the source of trunk leaks and there are 4 of them (#5, 12, 3, 10):
Mine were shrunk, damp and slightly rotten when I pulled them off. Water was just pouring into the trunk every time it rained. In addition to replacing all four gaskets, I also ran a bead of silicone around each taillight unit to seal it. The silicone is pliable and will expand and contract with the temperature while maintaining a seal. Trunk has been bone dry ever since.
